    User Installation Guide for the NAPCO Prima Series wireless security system, built around the PP1A Super Panel — a 7" touchscreen control panel supporting up to 128 wireless security zones, Z-Wave home automation, cellular/Wi-Fi/Ethernet connectivity, and a full line of Prima sensors and accessories.

    Quick Start

    1. Wire the power supply: Connect red to (+), black to (−).
    2. Connect power supply: Insert into the DC socket on the panel.
    3. Install cover: Insert tabs at the bottom and press to snap clips in place.
    4. Install tabletop stand: Slide tabs in as shown (no "snap").
    5. Apply power — the Setup Wizard appears. Tap Start.
    6. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password (case-sensitive).
    7. Create a 4-digit Panel Master Passcode.
    8. Select the panel's installation location.
    9. Install your first sensor — select the sensor device type, then follow on-screen instructions to pair it to the panel.
    10. Continue following system prompts to complete installation; scan the QR code on the panel to download the Mobile App (auto-detects Android or iOS).

    Home Screen & Panel Icons

    Icon Description
    Settings Allows you to set panel changes.
    Sensor List Add and edit sensors.
    Rooms Checks the state of room sensors.
    Doorbell Camera Connect the doorbell camera and set functions.
    History Displays a list of security events.
    Home Displays system status and open sensors.
    Emergency Sends an emergency signal to the central station.

    Arming & Disarming

    • Arm When Staying: Select Staying — instantly arm or set an exit time (Settings > Arming > Staying > Exit time). Disarm by tapping Disarm and entering your User passcode.
    • Arm When Leaving: Select Leaving — the system arms after a default 60-second exit time. Disarm the same way.
    • Bypass a Zone: If a sensor is faulted (e.g., door open), the system cannot arm until it's no longer faulted or the sensor is bypassed. Select the arming method, then confirm Bypass.

    3 User Types

    • Master: Only user with access to Settings; set by default; only the Master can add/delete users.
    • Hostage (Duress): Disabled by default. Once a Duress passcode is created, entering it while disarming under threat sends a silent emergency alert to the central station.
    • User (sub-types: Member, Scheduled, Temporary): A Member arms/disarms anytime; a Scheduled user only during preset times; a Temporary user only until a specified expiration.

    To add a user: enter the Master passcode > Settings > tap [+] > name the user > set User Type > set passcode.

    Arming Settings

    Bypass Alarm Allows arming with a faulted sensor (e.g., open window), removing it from the system for that arm cycle. On
    Voice Announce Enable/disable voice announcements while armed. On
    Beep Countdown Audible beep during arming countdown. Off
    Time to Exit Exit delay (0-120 sec, 15-sec intervals) before arming completes. 0 Seconds

    Security Settings

    Smart Arm Automatically bypasses interior PIR zones when armed while staying inside. Requires PIR sensor(s) installed. Off

    System Testing

    The Prima panel includes a full operational test suite: Walk Test, Touchscreen Test, Wi-Fi Test, SOS Alert Test, Ethernet Test, Server Test, Call Test, G-Sensor Test, Tamper (Panel) Test, Camera Test, Speaker Test, Siren Test, Microphone Test, LED Test, Battery Test, and an Upload Log viewer for cloud video.

    Emergency Button

    Always available on the menu bar — offers Call Medical, Call Police, and Fire Alarm options (Medical and Police also support a Send Silent option). When activated, the panel contacts the monitored central station and, unless silent, opens 2-way voice communication with the agent.

    Window/Door Transmitter (Model PWD)

    A magnetic sensor that fits alongside a door frame or windowsill. When the door/window opens, the magnetic contact is disrupted and the sensor notifies the panel.

    • Install using the provided adhesive and/or screws (screws are more secure than adhesive alone).
    • Mount the transmitter to the unmoving door frame (not the moving door), at the top corner of the opening side.
    • Transmitter and magnet must align within the specified gap range: ~30-36mm (1.1-1.4 in) on non-metallic surfaces, slightly less on metallic surfaces (see full gap table on-panel).
    • Requires two CR2032 battery cells; replace within 7 days of the first low-battery notification or the sensor may stop functioning properly.

    PIR Motion Sensor

    Designed to fit in a room corner or alongside a wall. When it senses motion, it transmits an alarm notification to the panel. Detection range: 3.28 ft (1m) in front when installed at 6.88 ft (2.1m) height, with a total range up to 32.80 ft (10m). Requires one CR123A battery; replace within 7 days of the first low-battery notification.

    Sensor Trouble Signals

    • Sensor Open: Protected door/window is open (transmitter not near magnet).
    • Sensor Closed: Protected door/window is closed.
    • Sensor Tamper: Case opened/removed from base — check mounting hardware.
    • Sensor Bypass: Sensor won't activate when armed.
    • Sensor Low Battery: Replace or recharge battery.
    • Sensor Loss of Supervision: Not communicating — check RF range or battery charge.

    Regulatory Notice

    This system ships with an approved 24-hour backup battery, compliant with UL 985 (Household Fire Warning System Units). Fire and carbon monoxide detectors are always active. Must be installed in accordance with Chapter 29 of ANSI/NFPA 72. Do not connect to a receptacle controlled by a switch.
