    Full text manual (for reference)

Setup and operating instructions for the MedReady 1700PRN medication dispenser, a PRN (as-needed) dosing model with 29 medication positions (28 usable). Covers first-time setup, loading medication, and troubleshooting.

    Getting Started

    1. Install the battery. The battery compartment is on the underside of the unit. Open the cover by sliding the tab back, then lifting once clear of the stop. Plug in the battery (the plug only fits one way) and replace the cover until it clicks. The battery must be connected for the MedReady to operate — if installed correctly, the display's colon will start flashing.
    2. Connect the AC adapter. Plug into the "12 Volt DC Jack" on the underside and into an outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch. The full LED display should now be visible.
    3. Remove the blue lid. Insert the round key, depress slightly, and rotate clockwise to the open/horizontal position. Hold the unit at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions with both hands, depress slightly, and rotate clockwise about one inch until the lid stops rotating, then lift it off. Leave the key in the lid, in the open position.
    4. Set the PRN time. While holding down the "1" button, press HOUR or MIN until the desired PRN time is displayed. Only one PRN time can be set — buttons 2, 3, and 4 are disabled.
    5. Load medication. Lift the medication tray out. There are 29 positions, 28 usable. Starting at any empty slot, load counterclockwise until all desired positions are filled — it's fine to leave the remainder empty. Position the tray with the empty slot at the 6:00 position, centered under the white T-Bar. If loading fewer than 28 doses: since the tray rotates clockwise as it dispenses, position the last empty slot directly under the T-Bar with medication starting to the right (counterclockwise) of it.
    6. Replace the blue lid. First confirm the white T-Bar on the Red Cover is pushed up toward the arrow, and the key is in the lock in the open/horizontal position; close the medication door on the lid. Place the lid on slightly rotated clockwise (as removed), hold at 9 and 3 o'clock, depress slightly, and rotate counterclockwise about one inch until the tabs slide under the base tabs. Rotate the key counterclockwise to the closed/vertical position and remove.

    Other Settings and Functions

    • Away Mode: Press and hold the HOUR button for ~4 seconds to turn the dispenser OFF (display reads "OFF" and dispensing stops). To resume, press HOUR until the PRN time displays again.
    • Alarm Test: Press and release the upper-left button to test the dispensing rotation. Slide the white T-Bar up to reset the PRN time.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Cause / Solution
No PRN time displayed, but colon is blinking Unit isn't getting AC power. Try a different outlet known to be live; confirm both ends are connected.
PRN time doesn't reset when opening the medication door Step 6 wasn't followed when replacing the lid — the medication door pushes up the T-Bar to trigger a micro switch that resets the PRN time. If the door is on the wrong side of the T-Bar, it can't engage the switch.
Medication tray doesn't rotate when PRN time reaches 0:00 Battery isn't plugged in (see step 1). To test: disconnect AC power — only the colon should still be blinking.
New medication slot is empty Medication wasn't loaded properly — refer to step 5.
Display shows "OFF" Press and hold the HOUR button by itself for several seconds to return to the PRN time display.
Blue lid won't go back on See step 6 above.
Battery and AC connected but device won't rotate to next dose at 0:00 The medication tray was likely previously forced to the next dose, disabling the device. Call customer support at 310-328-7557 (9:00–4:30 PT, M-F) to correct.

    Important Safety Note

Many PRN regimens involve dispensing narcotics. The MedReady 1700PRN is a medication aid only — it is NOT a medication safe or vault. A determined patient can access more medication than intended. If there is any doubt that a patient may have an uncontrollable urge to access excess medication, do not use this device. Under normal use, only one dose is available at any time.
