    Owner's manual for the Chamberlain B550, B552, and B750 Belt Drive Garage Door Openers — for residential use only, MyQ and Security+2.0 compatible.

    Overview

    Includes a pre-programmed remote control. Model number label is on the left side panel of the opener. Compatible with MyQ and Security+2.0 accessories.

    Important: Do not install on a one-piece door if using devices/features providing unattended close (Timer-to-Close, MyQ Smartphone Control, MyQ Garage Door/Gate Monitor). Unattended close features are for sectional doors only.

    Safety Warnings (Before Installation)

    • The door WILL NOT CLOSE unless the Protector System (safety reversing sensors) is connected and properly aligned.
    • Always call a trained door systems technician if the garage door binds, sticks, or is out of balance — an unbalanced door may not reverse when required.
    • Never try to loosen, move, or adjust the garage door, springs, cables, pulleys, brackets, or their hardware — all under extreme tension.
    • Disable all locks and remove all ropes connected to the garage door before installation and operation.

    Before You Begin

    1. Disable locks and remove any ropes connected to the garage door.
    2. Lift the door halfway and release it — if balanced, it should stay in place, supported entirely by its springs.
    3. Raise and lower the door to check for binding or sticking. If it binds, sticks, or is out of balance, call a trained door systems technician.
    4. Check the bottom door seal — any gap between the floor and the door must not exceed 1/4" (6mm), or the safety reversal system may not work properly.
    5. The opener should be installed above the center of the door, or within 4 feet (1.2m) left/right of center if a torsion spring or center bearing plate is in the way.

    MyQ Wi-Fi Setup

    Requires a smartphone/tablet, broadband internet, a strong 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi signal in the garage, your home network password, and the MyQ serial number (on the opener).

    1. Activate Wi-Fi Learn Mode: press and release the yellow LEARN button 3 times. The opener beeps once and a blue LED flashes — you have 20 minutes to complete setup.
    2. Connect to the MyQ Wi-Fi network: on your mobile device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network with the "MyQ-" prefix.
    3. Connect the opener to your home Wi-Fi: open a browser and go to setup.myqdevice.com, then follow the on-screen prompts.
    4. Set up your MyQ account: download the MyQ app (App Store / Google Play), create an account, and add the MyQ serial number.

    If Wi-Fi signal is weak/absent: move the router closer, buy a Wi-Fi range extender, or buy a Chamberlain MyQ Internet Gateway (CIGBU). More info: wifihelp.chamberlain.com.

    Programming the Travel (Adjustments)

    The programming buttons (UP, DOWN, Adjustment) are on the left side panel and set where the door stops in the open (UP) and closed (DOWN) positions. Force required is set automatically during programming.

    1. Press and hold the Adjustment Button until the UP Button flashes and/or beeps.
    2. Press and hold the UP Button until the door reaches the desired UP position.
    3. Press and release the Adjustment Button — lights flash twice, DOWN Button begins to flash. (One-piece doors: ensure the door doesn't slant backward when fully open.)
    4. Press and hold the DOWN button until the door reaches the desired DOWN position.
    5. Press and release the Adjustment Button — lights flash twice, UP Button begins to flash.
    6. Press and release the UP Button; when the door reaches the programmed UP position, the DOWN Button flashes.
    7. Press and release the DOWN Button — the door travels to the programmed DOWN position. Programming complete.

    5 flashes during programming = timed out; retry. 10 flashes = safety reversing sensors misaligned/obstructed — realign, then cycle the door through a full up/down cycle to complete programming.

    Testing the Safety Reversal System (Required Monthly)

    1. With the door fully open, place a 1-1/2" (3.8cm) board (or a 2x4 laid flat) on the floor, centered under the door.
    2. Press the remote control to close the door — it MUST reverse on contact with the board.

    If the door stops but doesn't reverse: review the installation steps, repeat travel programming, and retest. If it still fails, call a trained door systems technician.

    Testing the Protector System: open the door, place the opener carton in its path, then press remote control to close. The door should move less than an inch and the lights flash 10 times. The opener will not close via remote if either sensor's LED is off (misaligned/obstructed).

    Manual Door Release

    Disconnect the trolley (door should be fully closed if possible): pull down on the emergency release handle so the trolley release arm snaps to vertical. The door can now be raised/lowered manually.

    Reconnect the trolley: pull the emergency release handle toward the opener so the arm snaps to horizontal. The trolley reconnects on the next UP or DOWN operation.

    Never use the emergency release handle unless the doorway is clear of people and obstructions — weak/broken springs or an unbalanced door can cause it to fall rapidly.

    Control Panel Features (Motion Detecting & Multi-Function)

    • Push Bar: press to open or close the door.
    • Light Button: toggles opener lights on/off; auto-off after the set time period (factory default 4-1/2 minutes) once the opener is activated.
    • Light duration: hold LOCK ~10 seconds until lights flash — 1 flash = 1.5 min, 2 = 2.5 min, 3 = 3.5 min, 4 = 4.5 min. Repeat to cycle.
    • Toggle Light Feature on/off (factory default On): close the door, start from the opposite light state, then hold LIGHT ~10 seconds until lights turn off then on again.
    • Learn Button: programs any compatible remote, keyless entry, or MyQ device to the opener.
    • Motion Sensor (Motion Detecting panel only): auto-turns on opener lights when motion is detected, then shuts off after the set period. Has its own on/off switch.
    • Lock: hold LOCK for 2 seconds to prevent remote control activation while still allowing door control/keyless entry (command LED flashes while active); hold again to turn off.

    Timer-to-Close (TTC)

    Factory default OFF. Automatically closes the door after a set time (1, 5, or 10 minutes). Do not enable on one-piece doors — sectional doors only. The opener beeps and lights flash before closing. TTC deactivates if the door hits an obstruction twice, or if the safety sensors are incorrectly installed — the door reverses open and won't close until cleared/realigned. TTC will not work on battery power or with misaligned sensors, and is not intended as the primary closing method (install a keyless entry as backup against accidental lockout).

    Turn ON: hold ON until a TTC LED lights, then press ON again to cycle time intervals (1/5/10 min). Turn OFF: hold OFF until all TTC LEDs turn off and a beep sounds. Temporarily suspend: press HOLD OPEN; press again to resume.

    TTC-capable door controls: 041A7305-1 Smart Control Panel and 041A7327-1 Motion Detecting Control Panel.

    Programming Remote Controls & Keyless Entry

    Two pre-programmed remotes are included — no setup needed for those. To add/reprogram a remote or keyless entry:

    1. Press LEARN on the door control to enter Programming Mode, then press LEARN again (LED flashes once).
    2. Remote control: press the button you want to operate the door. Keyless entry: enter a 4-digit PIN of your choice on the keypad, then press ENTER.

    Opener lights flash (or two clicks sound) once the code is programmed. Older Chamberlain remotes are not compatible. HomeLink-equipped vehicles may need a Compatibility Bridge (not included) — check bridge.chamberlain.com.

    Erasing Memory

    • Erase all remotes/keyless entries: hold LEARN on the opener until the learn LED goes out (~6 seconds).
    • Erase all remotes, keyless entries, AND MyQ devices: hold LEARN until the LED goes out, then immediately hold LEARN again until it goes out again.
    • Erase Wi-Fi connection: hold the black Adjustment Button until 3 beeps sound (~6 seconds).
    • Erase a MyQ account: go to mychamberlain.com > Account > Delete Account.

    Maintenance Schedule

    Every month: manually operate the door (check balance/binding), verify full open/close, test the safety reversal system.

    Every year: oil door rollers, bearings, and hinges (the opener itself needs no additional lubrication — do not grease the door tracks).

    Remote battery: 3V CR2032 coin cell, lasts up to 3 years. Replace only with 3V CR2032 batteries — do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 212°F (100°C), or incinerate. Low battery = LED won't flash on button press.

    Light Bulb Notes

    Use an incandescent A19 bulb (100W max) or a 26W CFL equivalent. Do not use halogen, short-neck, or specialty bulbs (may overheat the panel/socket). Do not use LED bulbs — they may reduce remote control range/performance.

    Troubleshooting — Diagnostic Codes

    The opener flashes UP/DOWN arrow codes for self-diagnosis:

    1 / 4 Won't close, lights flash Sensors misaligned or momentarily obstructed — realign so both LEDs are steady
    1 / 5 Door moves 6-8" then stops/reverses Check for binding/obstructions (broken spring, door lock); check travel module wiring; replace travel module if needed
    1 / 6 Door coasts after stopping Reprogram travel to coasting position, or have door balanced by a technician
