Quick Install Guide for the Luxul XMS-1010P — a 10-Port/8 PoE+ Gigabit Managed Switch that can be rack-mounted or used as a desktop switch.

    Box Contents

    • XMS-1010P 10-Port/8 PoE+ Gigabit Managed Switch
    • Rack-mount hardware and rubber feet
    • Power cable

    1. Physical Installation

Install the XMS-1010P in a stable, safe location to avoid damage. Leave adequate space around the unit — Luxul recommends at least 4-6 inches on all sides for ventilation and heat dissipation. Avoid direct sunlight, don't place heavy items on top, and confirm the outlet's ground connection is functioning properly.

    Desktop/Shelf Installation

Attach the four included rubber feet to the corner indentations on the bottom of the unit, then place it horizontally on a solid, level platform.

    Rack Installation

Use the included L-brackets for mounting in a standard 19-inch server or audio rack. Use four screws to attach the L-shaped brackets to either side of the switch, then insert it horizontally into the rack using your preferred rack hardware.

    2. Connecting Ethernet and Power

    Ethernet

Use any RJ-45 cable to connect the XMS-1010P to an Ethernet-enabled device (servers, routers, or other switches) — no crossover cable needed. The switch supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet with 10/100 Mbps half/full-duplex and 1000 Mbps full-duplex modes. All ten RJ-45 ports support Auto MDI/MDIX and can be used as ordinary ports or Uplink ports. Ports 1-8 are PoE+ and enabled by default.

    Power

Use the included power cable to connect to a surge-protected outlet. The AC input socket and power switch are on the rear panel. The built-in power supply supports 100~240VAC at 50/60Hz.

    Network Cabling

Luxul recommends Category-5, super Category-5, or Category-6 unshielded twisted pair (CAT5/CAT5e/CAT6 UTP). For best performance and stable 1000 Mbps data transmission, use Category-6 shielded twisted pair.

Caution: Multiple Uplink channels can create network loops resulting in network failure. Ensure only one Uplink channel exists between switches, or between the XMS-1010P and a router.

Note: At power-up, port LEDs for the optical interface may take a moment to initialize — this is normal during startup.

Note: The XMS-1010P has an internal 130W power supply. For optimal performance, do not exceed 115W combined consumption across all connected PoE devices.

    3. Preparing for Access — IP Addressing

    • If your network already uses a 192.168.0.X address scheme and your computer shares that range, you can skip directly to Step 4 (Access and Setup).
    • If another device on your network already uses 192.168.0.3 (the switch's default IP), temporarily reassign or disconnect that device before configuring the XMS-1010P.
    • If your network uses a different address scheme, set a temporary static IP on your configuration computer within the 192.168.0.X range, and set its Gateway/Router address to 192.168.0.3 (the switch's default IP).
    • Once configuration is finished, return your computer's IP settings to normal (typically "Obtain Automatically/DHCP").

    4. Access and Setup

    Getting Connected

Connect your computer to the XMS-1010P with an Ethernet cable, then power on the switch.

    Logging In

Open a web browser and enter the switch's default IP address to reach the web configuration interface.

    Setting Default
    IP Address 192.168.0.3
    Username admin
    Password admin

Select menu items on the left side of the web interface to view or modify configuration settings.

    5. Hardware Operation

The front panel includes eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 PoE+ ports, two Gigabit uplink ports, and a set of status LED indicators. Each port has a Link/Activity LED, a 1000 Mbps LED, and a PoE LED, plus two SFP LEDs, one Power LED, one System LED, and a Reset button. At startup, port LEDs flash for 1 second as a self-test.

    LED Indicator Reference

    Indicator State Description
POWER On The XMS-1010P is switched on.
POWER Off Switched off or not connected to AC power. Check power connections and the rear power switch.
Link/Act On A device is connected to the port.
Link/Act Flashing Port is receiving or transmitting data.
Link/Act Off No device connected to the port.
    1000 Mbps On A 1000 Mbps-capable device is connected.
1000 Mbps Off No device connected, or device is not 1000 Mbps-capable.
PoE On A PoE-enabled device is connected and the switch is supplying power.
PoE Off No PoE device connected, or PoE not enabled on this port.
SYSTEM On The XMS-1010P is booting.
SYSTEM Flashing The XMS-1010P is running normally.
SYSTEM Off Starting up/initializing, or not powered on.

    Reset Button

Located at the lower-left corner of the front panel. Used to reset/reboot the switch or restore factory default settings.

    • To reset the switch: with the unit powered on, press the Reset button. Do not hold it for more than one second — holding longer could erase all settings and restore factory defaults.
    • To restore default settings: with the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button until the System LED cycles On → Flashing → Off. Once you see this flash sequence, release the button — the switch automatically restores factory defaults, and the System LED resumes normal flashing.

Caution: Restoring default settings removes any/all custom configuration.
