  • Luxul Epic 3 (XWR-3150) Dual-Band AC3100 Gigabit Router — Quick Install Guide

    August 31, 2026 3 min read

Quick install guide for the Luxul Epic 3 (XWR-3150) Dual-Band AC3100 Gigabit Router.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Quick install guide for the Luxul Epic 3 (XWR-3150) Dual-Band AC3100 Gigabit Router — covering physical installation, network setup, hardware controls, and advanced configuration.

    What's Included

    • Dual-Band Wireless AC3100 Gigabit Router (Epic 3 / XWR-3150)
    • 4 dual-band antennas
    • Ethernet cable
    • AC power adapter

    1. Physical Installation

The Epic 3 is designed for simple, efficient installation. For horizontal placement, install the included rubber feet and set the router on a desk or flat surface with adequate ventilation clearance. For wall or ceiling mounting, follow the included mounting pattern and use the mounting keyholes on the unit.

    2. Connecting Antennas, Ethernet and Power

    • Antennas: Install all four dual-band antennas before powering up — required for optimal performance.
    • Internet connection: Connect the Ethernet cable from your modem/router (ISP equipment) to the black INTERNET port.
    • AC power: Connect the included AC adapter to the XWR-3150 first, then plug it into the AC outlet.

    3. Preparing for Access — IP Addressing

The Epic 3's default LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1, and its DHCP server creates a 192.168.0.x network by default. The default IP/subnet scheme can be changed, but Luxul recommends keeping the default for hassle-free plug-and-play setup with other Luxul hardware.

    • If your client device obtains an IP address automatically, no further configuration is needed — skip to Access and Setup.
    • If not, set a temporary static IP on your computer in the 192.168.0.X range, and set the Gateway/Router address to 192.168.0.1.
    • If another device on your network already uses 192.168.0.1, reassign that device a different address first.
    • Visit luxul.com/ip-addressing for detailed help changing your computer's IP address.

    4. Access and Setup

    Getting Connected

    • Via Ethernet (preferred): Connect your computer to one of the green Epic 3 LAN ports.
    • Via wireless: Connect to one of the default wireless networks — Luxul3150 (2.4GHz) or Luxul31505G (5GHz — only visible to devices supporting 5GHz). Both run in Open security mode by default (no passphrase) until wireless security is configured.

    Logging In

Open a web browser and go to 192.168.0.1, then log in with the default credentials:

    • Default IP: 192.168.0.1
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin

    5. Advanced Configuration — Wireless Controller

The Epic 3 can manage up to two additional access points to enable wireless client roaming and simplified configuration. To enable: connect one or two compatible access points to the same network as the Epic 3, then select Wireless Controller from the Epic 3 web configuration interface, and follow the online help to add the access point(s) to the profile.

Caution: Do not manually configure access points you intend to manage with the Epic 3 for seamless roaming — doing so results in a standalone AP that the Epic 3 will not find or manage.

For DDNS, VPN, and other advanced features, refer to the support resources at luxul.com.

    6. Hardware Operation

    Rear Panel

    • Antenna ports: 4 RPSMA female ports for the included antennas.
    • Power input: for the included power adapter.
    • WAN port: 1 black RJ-45 Ethernet port for Internet connection.
    • LAN 1-4 ports: 4 green RJ-45 Ethernet ports for local network connections (a Luxul switch is recommended to expand local ports).

    Rebooting & Factory Reset

    • To reboot: disconnect the power adapter, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect.
    • To factory reset: press and hold the Reset button until the System LED stops flashing (~20 seconds). The reset takes a minute or more; success is indicated when all Port LEDs flash once, followed by the System LED resuming its normal flash pattern.
    • Caution: holding Reset longer than 10 seconds triggers a factory reset, which removes all custom settings.
