    User guide for the HomeSeer HS-FLS100-G2 Z-Wave Plus Floodlight Sensor — a PIR motion + LUX retrofit module that converts an ordinary motion-activated outdoor floodlight into a smart Z-Wave device.

    Overview

    • PIR sensor detects motion via heat sources; LUX sensor measures ambient brightness.
    • Conventional Floodlight Mode: Works as a standalone motion floodlight sensor with manual LUX/timer knobs — no smart hub required.
    • Smart Floodlight Mode: Sends Z-Wave motion/LUX alerts to a hub, and the hub can turn the floodlight on/off remotely.
    • Smart Sensor Mode: Can be used purely as an outdoor motion, LUX, and temperature sensor without any floodlight function.
    • Supports S2 security — requires a security-enabled Z-Wave Plus controller for full protection.

    Safety Warnings

    • Installation must be performed by qualified technicians familiar with local codes.
    • Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse box before installation to avoid electrical shock. Do not install while raining.
    • If house wiring is aluminum, consult an electrician about proper wiring methods.
    • Total lighting load must not exceed 300W incandescent @ 120VAC, or 100W LED @ 120VAC with 0.8 pF driver.
    • The unit ships with a pre-wired supply cable that must be used and not removed.

    Installation Overview

    1. Turn off power at the breaker. Remove bulbs, then detach the existing floodlight fixture (save all parts, note gasket orientation).
    2. If replacing an old motion sensor, disconnect and remove it from the mounting base.
    3. Screw the HS-FLS100-G2's threaded arm into the mounting base (typically at the bottom for wall mount).
    4. Wire up per the color-matched diagram (Black/White/Red, using wire nuts) — match existing motion sensor wiring colors if replacing one.
    5. Route Hot/Neutral leads through the rubber gasket for wall mount. Set the Time-Off knob to "T" and the Lux knob to the moon mark before reassembly.
    6. Reassemble the floodlight, restore power. It runs for ~60 seconds warm-up, then enters Test Mode.

    Walk Test

    Walk through the PIR coverage area — the floodlight should turn on with motion and off after ~5 seconds. Once satisfied with coverage, set the desired Time and Lux level.

    Manual Time & Lux Adjustment

    • Time-Off knob: Controls how long the floodlight stays on after motion (from ~8 seconds near "T" up to ~12 minutes toward "+"). Midpoint ≈ 5 minutes.
    • Lux knob: Sets the ambient brightness threshold to arm the motion sensor, adjustable ~10–900 Lux, between "always trigger" and "moon" (dark-only trigger).
    • Note: once connected to a Z-Wave controller, manual knob settings are overwritten by controller-set parameters.

    Z-Wave Inclusion

    • Auto Inclusion: The unit automatically enters inclusion mode on first power-up after a factory reset (30-second window). Move the controller within one wall of the floodlight, put it in inclusion mode, then power on the floodlight — the Link LED blinks during the process and stops when complete.
    • Manual Inclusion/Exclusion: Put the controller into inclusion/exclusion mode, then press the Link button 3 times within 1.5 seconds.
    • S2 security controllers may prompt for a 5-digit Device Specific Key (DSK), found on the unit's QR code label or the packaging insert card.
    • Factory Reset: Press the Link button 3 times within 1.5 seconds to enter exclusion mode, then within 1 second press and hold again until the LED turns off (~5 seconds). Device reverts to factory defaults and re-enters auto-inclusion mode for 4 minutes.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Possible Cause Fix
    Floodlight doesn't turn on for 5 sec after power Power/wiring issue Check wall switch, wiring, breaker/fuse.
