    Installation and quick start guide for the Leviton LevNet RF Receptacle (Tamper-Resistant) — Cat. Nos. WSG15-0DZ (Top Controlled) and WSG15-TDZ (Dual Controlled, Title 24). Ratings: 125VAC, 60Hz, 15A. Switched: 15A General Use/Resistive, 1800W Incandescent, 1800VA Inductive, 1/2HP, 120VAC.

    Description

    The LevNet RF Receptacle (WSG15) uses wireless communication to provide remote control of your lighting. The device controls lighting or equipment attached to the receptacle by receiving a wireless signal (315MHz) from other EnOcean-enabled wireless devices. Devices can be learned directly into the unit via the Programming Mode Selection Menu, or wirelessly via the Leviton ComWi software and WSCOM-03W.

    The WSG15 receptacle has a 50–100 ft. reception range depending on the environment and transmission device; range is reduced by signals having to transmit through walls. Some motorized devices, such as a power drill, can significantly reduce the effective range of the WSG15. Transmit range for WSG15, when used as a repeater or for initial setup/commissioning, is between 20–50 ft.

    Safety Warnings

    • To avoid fire, shock, or death: turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring, servicing, installing, or removing the device.
    • To be installed and/or used in accordance with electrical codes and regulations.
    • If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult an electrician.
    • Leviton recommends using 3-1/2 inch deep wall boxes at minimum for adequate wire room (an 18-cubic-inch wall box minimum for single-gang applications).
    • Use this device with copper or copper-clad wire only.

    Compatible Devices

    Most EnOcean Alliance-enabled devices conforming to the EnOcean Equipment Profile (EEP) are compatible with the WSG15 receptacle. This includes room controllers, occupancy sensors, key cards, unpowered switches, and door/window sensors made by Leviton as well as other EnOcean Alliance companies supporting EEP 2.1 and above.

    Equipment Needed for Installation

    Installation Steps

    Step 1 — Power Off

    Warning: to avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.

    Step 2 — Identify Your Wiring

    Identify the most common single-pole wiring application: 1. Line (Hot), 2. Neutral, 3. Ground. If the wiring in your wall box does not resemble this configuration, consult an electrician.

    Step 3 — Wire the Receptacle

    This receptacle can be wired using side wire terminal screws or through backwire openings.

    • Side wire terminals accept #14-12 AWG solid copper wire only. Strip gauge: 5/8" (1.6 cm).
    • Back wire openings accept #14-12 AWG solid copper wire only (either hole may be used).
    • Make sure the ends of the wires from the wall box are straight (cut if necessary) and remove insulation from each wire as shown in the diagram.
    • Connect the green or bare copper wire in the wall box to the green terminal screw.
    • Connect the Line Hot wall box wire to the terminal screw (black) marked "LINE."
    • Connect the Line Neutral wall box wire to the terminal screw (silver) marked "NEUTRAL."

    Step 4 — Test the Receptacle Prior to Mounting

    • Position all wires to provide room in the outlet wall box for the device.
    • Partially screw in mounting screws in wall box mounting holes. Dress wires with a bend as shown in the diagram to relieve stress when mounting the device.
    • Restore power at circuit breaker or fuse. The green Locator light should turn ON. If it does not, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

    Step 5 — Mount the Receptacle

    1. Turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse.
    2. Complete installation by tightening mounting screws into the wall box. Attach the wallplate.
    3. Restore power at circuit breaker or fuse. Installation is complete.

    Changing the Color of Your Receptacle

    Your receptacle includes five color options and ships with the white frame attached. Push in the side at the tab to release, line up tabs, and press in sides one at a time to attach the new color frame.

    Programming Instructions

    All devices are learned in a "reduced sensitivity" mode to avoid interference from other devices that may be active nearby. This reduces the range, so devices being learned to the WSG15 receptacle should be within 10 ft during learning.

    Factory Defaults (accessible only via ComWi software)

    • Occupancy Sensor Timeout: 20 minutes
    • Momentary Egress Delay: 0 seconds
    • Repeater Mode: ON, Level 1

    Time-Outs

    When used with an occupancy sensor, the WSG15 has six time-out settings: 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes (a longer timeout is recommended for self-powered devices in dark spaces). Default is 20 minutes; can only be changed using the ComWi software with the WSCOM tool.

    Walk-Through Time Delay

    The walk-through feature is active only in Auto-On/Auto-Off mode with time delay > 2 minutes — useful when a room is momentarily occupied. When a person enters, lights turn ON; if they leave before the 2.5-minute walk-through timeout, the sensor turns lights OFF within 2.5 minutes of no occupancy detected. If the room is occupied longer than 2.5 minutes, the sensor enters Occupied Mode with the configured time-out duration.

    Programming Mode Selection Menu (Five Modes)

    Enter Programming Mode by pressing and holding the Programming Button for 15 seconds until the LED begins flashing Amber slowly (1x/sec) — this is the Mode Selection Menu. Press the Programming Button to advance between the five modes; each mode is represented by a distinct Amber blink rate.

    Amber Blinks Mode Behavior
    1 (1x/sec) Rocker Door/window sensors: "Normal" — OPEN=OFF, CLOSED=ON. Switches act as a normal rocker light switch ("I"=ON, "O"=OFF). Occupancy sensor: Manual-ON/Auto-OFF, 30-second vacancy period before lights can be turned ON via switch again; default delay 20 min.
    2 (2x/sec) Momentary Door/window sensors: "Inverted" — OPEN=ON, CLOSED=OFF. Switches/key cards: press turns lights ON, release turns them OFF (intended for key card devices). Occupancy sensor: Auto-ON/Auto-OFF, default delay 20 min.
    3 (3x/sec) Toggle Door/window sensors: "Inverted" — OPEN=ON, CLOSED=OFF. Switches/key cards: toggles with each press. Occupancy sensor: Auto-ON/Auto-OFF with 2.5-minute Walk-Thru enabled, default delay 20 min.
    4 (4x/sec) Scene Door/window sensors: "Inverted" — OPEN=ON, CLOSED=OFF. Switch/key card devices restore the light state to what it was when the device was learned.
    5 (5x/sec) Clear All Clears all devices from memory and returns the device to factory default configuration.

    Note: If a new occupancy sensor is learned, all learned occupancy sensors for that unit default to the newly learned occupancy state.

    Rocker Mode Programming

    1. Upon entering Programming Mode, the device automatically begins in Rocker Mode (Amber LED flashing 1x/sec).
    2. To learn a device, press and hold the Programming Button for 3–5 seconds until the LED changes from Amber to Red or Green — you are now in Programming Learn Mode.
    3. When learning a wireless switch, press one end of the switch rocker. When learning a transmitter other than a wireless switch/keycard, press the LEARN button on the transmitter (see its instruction sheet). The LED turns Amber and the load toggles for 2 seconds, indicating the transmitter's unique ID was stored. The LED changes from flashing Red to flashing Green on the first learned device, or increases Green flash count for additional devices.
    4. Pressing the transmitter switch again unlearns the unique ID — the load will not toggle and the Green LED lights for 2 seconds before returning to a Red or Green blink.
    5. To program additional transmitters in Rocker Mode, wait until LED flashing resumes and repeat. Up to 20 devices can be learned (Green blinks track up to 20; Programming Mode exits after 20 seconds of inactivity).
    6. To exit Learn Mode, wait — the receiver automatically exits after 20 seconds of inactivity (LED flashing stops).

    Momentary / Toggle / Scene Mode Programming

    Follow the same general steps as Rocker Mode, advancing the Programming Button from the Mode Selection Menu (Amber flashing) to the desired blink rate: 2x/sec for Momentary, 3x/sec for Toggle, 4x/sec for Scene. For Scene Mode, first toggle the load to the desired state (ON or OFF) before entering Programming Mode, then hold the button for 2 seconds to enter Learn Mode and press the wireless light switch to be learned.

    Clear Mode Programming

    1. From the Mode Selection Menu, advance the Amber LED to flashing 5x/sec (Clear Mode).
    2. Hold the button 3–5 seconds; the LED changes from Amber to a single Red or Green flash, signifying Clear Mode.
    3. To clear ALL devices from memory and reset to factory defaults, press and hold the button for 5 seconds. The entire memory is deleted; the LED flashes Red when complete.

    Selective Deleting (Unlearn)

    Go back to the same mode the device was learned in (e.g., Rocker Switch = Rocker Mode), enter Learn Programming Mode, then press the button on the transmitter to be unlearned. The load will not toggle but the Green locator LED remains ON for 2 seconds. The device count in memory reduces by one.

    LED Feedback in Learn Programming Mode

    • 1 Red flash = no learned devices
    • 1 Green flash = 1 learned device
    • 2 Green flashes = 2 learned devices
    • X Green flashes = X or more learned devices (maximum 20 devices can be learned)

    Operation

    The locator LED illuminates when the load is OFF, to facilitate access in the dark.

    • Turn ON from OFF: tap the push button — lights turn ON.
    • Turn OFF from ON: tap the push button — lights turn OFF.
    • Cleaning: clean with a damp cloth; do not use chemical cleaners.
    • If there is a power outage, when power is restored, the lights return to the state they were in prior to the power loss.

    Troubleshooting

    • Difficulty plugging an item into the receptacle: this Tamper-Resistant receptacle has a built-in shutter barrier to limit improper insertion of small objects. Plug devices in as straight as possible, with both hot and neutral plugs inserted at the same time to allow the shutter barrier to open.
    • Receptacle has no power: check for a bad connection, or wires not secured firmly under the terminal screws.
    • Locator LED does not turn ON with device in OFF state: circuit breaker or fuse has tripped, or neutral connection is not wired.
    • Paired with an Occupancy Sensor — lights turn back ON right after turning OFF: adjust range (CCW) slightly to reduce range, or relocate the sensor farther from the light/heat source.
    • False tripping when no one is around: adjust range (CCW) to reduce sensitivity, relocate sensor closer to the light source, or reconfigure sensor to MANUAL ON mode.
    • Confirm range: press the learn button on the occupancy sensor several times at the installed location; the load should toggle on the receptacle. If not, try rotating the sensor 90 degrees (Leviton logo pointing toward the receptacle) and try again.
    • Unable to get the ComWi Tool working: unplug all devices from the receptacle (can increase transmission range by 50%+), then move closer to the receptacle (within 10 ft).

    Improving Wireless Performance

    • Devices should not be installed near metal or behind metal faceplates.
    • Avoid installing sensors on metal ceilings.
    • Leviton occupancy sensors should be rotated so the Leviton logo points toward the receiver.
    • Relays and wall box switches installed in metal single/dual-gang electrical switch boxes need their antenna outside the metal enclosure.
    • Metal decreases the effectiveness of RF transmission; range can also be reduced by overloading the receptacle (rated 15A) or by nearby transmitting devices (keep at least 3 ft. separation from computers, audio/video equipment).
    • Do not use power tools such as drills or saws near the receptacle — turn-off range will be significantly reduced.
    • Obstructions that reduce range: false ceilings with metal/carbon-fiber panels, lead glass or metal-coated glass, steel furniture, hollow lightweight walls filled with insulating wool on metal foil.

    Leviton warrants to the original consumer purchaser that this product is free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal and proper use for five years from the purchase date. Leviton's only obligation is to correct such defects by repair or replacement, at its option, if returned prepaid with proof of purchase and a description of the problem. This warranty excludes labor for removal/reinstallation and is void if the product is installed improperly, overloaded, misused, opened, abused, or altered. There are no other implied warranties beyond the stated five-year term.
