    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation instructions for the Leviton Switch Leg Transmitter (SLT) — Cat. No. WSSLT & WSTLT — a wireless device that replaces the wiring between a switch and an electrical load with an RF control signal.

    Warnings and Cautions

    • To be installed and/or used in accordance with appropriate electrical codes and regulations. If unsure, consult an electrician.
    • Intended only for indoor use, in dry locations, with permanently installed fixtures.
    • Do not install in close proximity to light bulbs or other heat sources (e.g., above a ceiling hugger fixture), particularly with higher wattage loads.
    • For in-wall installation use a wiring box; for ceiling installation make wire connections inside a junction box. Ensure ceiling box temperature will not exceed 50°C.
    • For best wireless signal performance, install the receiver in a plastic box away from the floor and away from metal objects.
    • Read all installation steps before taking any action. Associate the SLT with all appropriate receivers and test signal range before final installation.
    • Keep the SLT within 15 feet (4.6 m) of the desired receiver when programming — receivers have reduced range during programming.

    Description

The Switch Leg Transmitter (SLT) senses the status of a photocell, timer, or manual switch master circuit and controls wireless slave receiver(s) — eliminating the need to run new wire between switch and load.

    Compatible Devices

    • 3-Wire Relay
    • 5-Wire Relay
    • Plug-in Dimmer/Relay
    • Plug-in Relay
    • 4-Channel Low Voltage Receiver
    • Room Controller
    • Thermostat
    • More receivers available

    Tools Needed

Pencil or ball point pen, wire nuts, electrical tape, screwdriver.

    Installation Steps

    1. Warning: To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring!
    2. Connect wires per the wiring diagram. Twist wire nuts on clockwise, making sure no bare wires show. Wrap connections with electrical tape.
    3. Programming: Restore power and follow the receiver's programming instructions found in its installation guide. For SLT installations, program the receiver using Rocker Mode.
    4. To associate an SLT with a receiver, press the Teach button (labeled "TCH") on the SLT while the receiver is in the desired Learn Mode. This sends a signal containing the unique ID of the SLT to the receiver, which memorizes it. Do not press the Teach button multiple times while the receiver is in Learn Mode, or the SLT may be accidentally deleted from or added to the receiver's memory.
    5. Activation: Test the SLT. Once associated with a receiver, whenever power is provided to or removed from the SLT, it transmits a wireless signal to control the receiver. If the SLT is not working, review the wiring and programming instructions for both devices.
    6. Stow all wires in the wiring box to complete installation.
    7. Restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Installation is complete.

    Wireless Switch Leg Solution

The Switch Leg Transmitter replaces switch-leg wires with a wireless control signal — allowing an existing on/off switch to control a new load that may even be connected to a different branch circuit, without running new wire.
