    Decora Digital Device Questions

Do all Decora Digital devices have Bluetooth Technology?
    DDMX1, DDS15, DDL06-BT, DDE06, DD710, and DDF01 are all Bluetooth-enabled devices with timer capabilities. DD00R-DL, DD0SR-DL, and DD0SR-1 remotes are not Bluetooth-enabled. The DDL06-1L is a digital dimmer without advanced Bluetooth control.

How is the DDL06-1L different from the DDL06-BT?
The DDL06-1L is a digital dimmer with manual control and programming. The DDL06-BT has the same dimming functions but adds advanced Bluetooth control, programming, and timer capabilities.

What are the benefits of Bluetooth Technology?
Devices can be wirelessly controlled and programmed via Bluetooth using a smartphone or tablet paired with the Leviton Decora Digital Dimmer & Timer App — set timed events, turn lights on/off, dim/brighten, and access advanced features.

    App features (all Bluetooth-enabled devices):

    • On/Off control
    • Programmable timer to switch lights (or fan) on/off at user-selected intervals, any day or combination of days
    • Astronomical clock — auto-adjusts to local sunrise/sunset and Daylight Saving Time
    • Sleep timer to switch off after a pre-selected length of time
    • Full-range dimming with adjustable fade rates (dimmers only)

Wireless range: 30 feet local control without a hub, gateway, or internet connection — range may vary with walls, obstacles, and installation conditions. Control away from home is not supported (limited to Bluetooth's 30-foot range).

Neutral wire required? Yes, for DDMX1, DDS15, DDE06, and DDF01. Ground wire required? Yes, for all Decora Digital devices.

Identifying your model number: Remove the wallplate — the product label is in the upper right of the metal strap.

    Rechargeable backup battery (DDS15, DDE06, DD710, DDF01): Cannot be replaced — it's permanently installed.

    Single Pole vs. 3-Way/Multi-Location

Single pole means controlling one or more fixtures from one location. 3-way controls fixtures from two locations (e.g., top and bottom of a staircase). A Decora Digital remote must be used with the Decora Digital Dimmer or Switch for 3-way/multi-location. Decora Digital Remotes also work with Leviton's Decora Smart product line.

Family Devices DD00R-DL (Matching Dimmer Remote) DD0SR-DL (Matching Switch Remote) DD0SR-1 (Coordinating Switch Remote)
    Decora Digital DDMX1, DDL06-BT, DDL06-1L, DDE06, DD710, DDF01 Yes - -
Decora Digital DDS15 - Yes Yes
    Decora Smart DZ1KD, DZ6HD, DW1KD, DW6HD, DH1KD, DH6HD Yes - -
    Decora Smart DZ15S, DW15S, DH15S - Yes Yes

Matching vs. coordinating remotes: A matching remote offers more functionality.

Remote On/Off Control Dim/Bright Control LED Brightness Display LED Locator Light
DD00R-DL Matching Dimmer Remote Yes Yes Yes Yes
DD0SR-DL Matching Switch Remote Yes No No Yes
DD0SR-1 Coordinating Switch Remote Yes No No No

Locator light: All Decora Digital controls except the DD0SR-1 Remote have a small green LED locator light below the rocker switch that illuminates when the load is off, for finding the device in the dark. It can be disabled via the app (DDL06-1L users must disable manually).

Available colors: All Decora Digital Controls have changeable faceplates and ship with three colors in a box: White, Ivory, and Light Almond. Additional color change kits available in Gray, Black, Brown, and Red.

Decora Digital Dimmer & Timer App Questions

Minimum requirements: Bluetooth 4.0 (BT LE). Compatible with iPhone 4s through 7 Plus, iPad 3rd gen through Pro/Air 2/mini 3. OS requirements: iOS 6.0+ or Android 4.3+ (7.0 not supported, but 7.1+ is).

Android pairing issues: Go to Settings > Apps > Decora Digital > Permissions > Location and enable it.

App cost: Free, available on Apple iTunes and Google Play. No username/password required (optional registration for notifications).

Family sharing: Any family member with a compatible smartphone/tablet can download the app and pair with an installed device.

Sunrise/Sunset feature: Uses your physical location (requires Location Services enabled) to provide accurate local sunrise/sunset times.

Random feature: Scheduled events fire at a random time 1-40 minutes before the scheduled event, varying each occurrence, to give a lived-in look.

Power loss: Programming is saved to the device's flash memory — no reset needed after a power outage.

Device/user pairing limits: Unlimited devices per app, unlimited users per device. Up to 80 individual on/off events can be programmed per device.

Factory reset: Hold the top of the rocker switch down until the locator LED starts blinking. You may need to re-pair with the app afterward.

Authentication Code: Resetting it locks out anyone previously connected to the device who you no longer want to have access.

    Bulb Questions

    Device Compatible Bulb Types
DDMX1 Dimmable LEDs, dimmable CFLs, incandescent, halogen, Mark10 Powerline, MLV
DDL06 Dimmable LEDs, dimmable CFLs, incandescent, halogen
    DDS15 LED, CFL, incandescent, fluorescent
DDE06 ELV, dimmable LEDs, dimmable CFLs, incandescent, halogen
    DD710 0-10V LED/Fluorescent Ballasts

Only LED and CFL bulbs labeled DIMMABLE should be used. Dimming any bulb type reduces energy consumption.

Dimming LED/CFL vs. incandescent: LED/CFL bulbs contain electronic circuitry, making smooth start and complete dimming range harder to achieve than with incandescent bulbs. The Decora Digital Dimmer is designed to interact with this circuitry for smooth low-level dimming on most major-brand bulbs.

Factory bulb presets: DDMX1 (Incandescent/MLV), DDL06 (Incandescent), DDE06 (ELV). DD710 and DDF01 have no bulb options (0-10V fixtures / ceiling fan only). DDS15 has no bulb options. If controlling a different bulb type, change the setting via the app's Advanced Settings / Bulb Options.

CFL "kick start": Dimmable CFL bulbs may require an additional energy boost to turn on — set the dimmer to CFL mode. This mode also works fine with LED bulbs that are difficult to start at low preset levels.

Bulbs not turning on at lowest setting: Use the "kick start" feature (set load type to the bulb in use) and/or use the app to adjust the minimum light level to take advantage of the bulb's full dimming range.

Delay before LED turns on: May occur if soft on/off fading is enabled — some bulbs have a built-in delay during those transitions.

Mixing bulb types: Not recommended — different LED bulbs may have different color temperatures and dimming ranges, which can cause inconsistent dimming performance and startup behavior.

Device De-Rating and Maximum Bulb Wattage

If installing more than one Decora Digital device in the same wallbox, de-rating may be required depending on bulb type. Incandescent and Magnetic Low Voltage bulbs require de-rating; dimmable LED/CFL bulbs do not.

Device / Load One Device Two Devices More Than Two
    DDMX1 — Incandescent 1000W 800W 700W
    DDMX1 — Magnetic Low Voltage 1000VA 800VA 700VA
    DDL06 — Incandescent 600W 500W 500W
    DDE06 — Incandescent 600W 500W 400W
    DDE06 — Electronic Low Voltage 600W 500W 400W
    DDF01 — Max Fan Speed Control 1.5A 1.5A 1.5A

DDE06 max bulb wattage at 80% efficiency: Incandescent/ELV — 480W (one device), 400W (two devices), 320W (more than two).

DD710 max bulb wattage at 80% efficiency: 120V/950VA rating — 760VA at one, two, or more than two devices. 277V/1350VA rating — 1080VA at one, two, or more than two devices.
