    Full text manual (for reference)

    Overview

The Leviton evr-green® Electric Vehicle Charging Station (Cat. Nos. EV320, EV32W, EV48W, EV48S) is a 32A/48A Level 2 EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) for charging vehicles compatible with the SAE J1772 Level 2 charging standard. Available in 32A and 48A models with wall-mount or pedestal-mount installation.

    Safety Warnings

    • WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death — turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring. Do not remove circuit protective devices or any component until power is off.
    • Carefully read your vehicle's charging instructions before charging.
    • Risk of electric shock — do not remove the cover or open the enclosure. No user-serviceable parts inside.
    • Install, adjust, and service only by qualified electrical personnel familiar with this type of charger.
    • Do not install or use near flammable, explosive, corrosive, or combustible materials, chemicals, or vapors — the device has arcing/sparking parts.
    • Do not use the charger if defective, cracked, frayed, broken, or damaged.
    • Do not use while in the vehicle, or when the charger is exposed to severe rain, snow, or weather.
    • Handle with care during transport — do not drag or step on the device.
    • Do not touch the charging connector terminal with sharp metallic objects, forcefully pull the cable, or insert foreign objects into the connector.
    • Connect only to a circuit with branch circuit overcurrent protection per NEC (ANSI/NFPA 70), Canadian Electrical Code Part I C22.1, or NOM-001-SEDE (Mexico).
    • Position the charging cable so it won't be stepped on, tripped over, or damaged.

    Installation

    Wiring (Circuit Breaker Options)

    Output Amperage Circuit Breaker Option
    32A 40A
    48A 60A

240V single phase: The two phases used must each measure 120V to ground. Earth ground must connect to neutral at only one point, usually the breaker panel.

208V 3-phase, wye-connected: The charger connects to L1–L2, L2–L3, or L1–L3 legs; leave the unused leg open (do not connect to a neutral bar or ground). Earth ground must connect to neutral at only one point, usually the breaker panel.

A Type B, C, or D breaker rated per the table above should be installed in the upstream AC distribution box. A disconnect switch for each ungrounded AC input conductor must be provided in accordance with NEC (ANSI/NFPA 70).

    Wall-Mounted Bracket Installation

    1. Mark and drill the four screw holes: 0.35" (9mm) diameter, 2.05" (52mm) depth. Secure the wall-mounted bracket using the 4 expansion screws and M6 screws — use anchors appropriate for your wall substrate.
    2. Align the rear notch of the charger into the wall-mounted bracket and fit the screw holes on the right and left sides.
    3. Fix the two M5 screws to complete the installation.

    Operating Instructions

RFID access control is disabled by default on all units. The EV320 ships with RFID inactive; the EV32W, EV48W, and EV48S ship standard with RFID active.

    1. Standby: After power-on, blue (READY), green (CHARGE), and red (FAULT) all light briefly, then settle into standby with a steady blue READY light. Takes about 1.5 minutes from power-on.
    2. Plug in the connector: Plug the charging connector into the vehicle's charging inlet. If you tap an RFID card first, you must complete the connector insertion within 2 minutes or tap the card again.
    3. Charging: The green CHARGE light flashes automatically once charging begins. If the red FAULT light lights up, unplug and reinsert the vehicle connector; if it remains lit, see Error and Warning Messages.
    4. Charging finished: The green CHARGE light becomes steady. Press the button on the connector to stop charging.

Restricting User Activation via RFID Card

Only required if you want to restrict charging access to RFID cardholders. Each unit ships with 1 administrator card and 2 standard cards. Admin cards activate RFID access control and should be kept by the charger owner; standard cards enable charging for users.

WARNING: Once RFID access control is enabled, it cannot be disabled. Do not activate the admin card if you want to keep the unit unrestricted.

    1. To enable RFID access control, hold the admin card to the RFID sensor on the front of the charger until you hear a beep.
    2. To enable charging with a standard card: tap the card over the RFID image — the POWER light turns solid green when the unit is unlocked for charging.
    3. Press and hold the black button on top of the charge plug and insert it into your car's inlet — charging starts automatically and the CHARGE light flashes green.
    4. To stop, press the black button on the plug to remove it. To restart, tap the RFID card again, press the button, and reinsert.
    5. After charging, loop the charging cable over the station to prevent a tripping hazard. If the station will be unused for an extended period, turn it off.
