    Specification and installation sheet for the Leviton 1450W Weather-Resistant 50 Amp Heavy Duty Flush Mount Outlet (Cat. No. 1450W), rated 50A 125/250V AC. Recommended for use with plug-in EV chargers.

    Overview

    The 1450W is a flush-mount, weather-resistant 14-50R receptacle intended for outdoor installation in a 2-gang outdoor box with a code-compliant weatherproof cover. It must be installed downstream of a GFCI per NEC® and CEC® requirements.

    Safety Warnings

    • To avoid fire, shock, or death: turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.
    • To avoid personal injury or death: do not use the mounting screws supplied in the wallplate screw hole — mounting screws should only be used in the mounting screw holes.
    • Do not use with single-gang wallboxes.
    • Must be installed and used in accordance with applicable electrical codes and regulations. If unsure, consult an electrician.
    • For use with #4, #6, or #8 AWG copper wire only (may use #10 AWG solid or stranded copper wire for the ground connection). Do not use with copper-clad or aluminum wire on this device.

    Installation Steps

    1. Strip wire exposing 11/16 in. (1.8 cm) of conductor. Stripping too short may pinch insulation between screw and terminal; if a conductor is damaged during stripping, cut off the section and repeat.
    2. Identify and insert wires into the appropriate terminals using the wiring diagram (250V/125V, SYS GR, EQUIP GR, and 14-50R receptacle terminals).
    3. Tighten terminal screws to 75 in-lbs. The torque must be maintained for a minimum of 5 seconds at a constant 75 in-lbs reading — repeat this step after all wires are initially secured.
    4. Must be installed in a 2-gang outdoor box with a code-compliant weatherproof cover.
