    Installation guide for wiring Legrand radiant/Adorne wireless lighting remotes and dimmers into existing three-way switch circuits (Types A, B, and C).

    Installation guide for adding Legrand wireless lighting remotes/dimmers (radiant Smart Lighting, radiant RF Lighting Control, radiant Apple HomeKit Lighting, and Adorne Wireless Lighting collections) into existing three-way switch circuits.

    Note: This guide does NOT apply to Wi-Fi smart lighting products with traditional 3-way wiring, or to the radiant WWRL50 Smart Wi-Fi Tru-Universal Dimmer or WWRL10 Smart Wi-Fi Switch (see their own installation guides).

    Safety Warnings

    • Incorrect installation could result in death, serious injury, and/or damage to your home or devices. Install in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
    • For dry, indoor use only. Do not use to power medical equipment. Not suitable as a disconnecting means.
    • Do not exceed the device load rating (see product installation sheet).
    • Connect the smart device to a 120 VAC, 60 Hz power source ONLY.
    • Remote devices do NOT connect to lighting loads — they're powered by house wiring and use a wireless connection to control paired devices.
    • Always use copper wire. Install in a non-metallic electrical box to protect wireless signal strength.
    • Do NOT use a power screwdriver — over-tightening can damage the device.
    • If unsure about any step, stop and contact a licensed electrician.

    Tools Needed

    • Required: Phillips-head screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, non-contact voltage tester
    • May also need: Pliers, wire cutter, wire stripper, electrical tape, flashlight, wiring leads (included), wire nuts (included)

    Step 1 — Prepare Existing Devices

    1. Switch power OFF at the panel.
    2. Remove both switch plates and pull devices from their boxes.
    3. Use a non-contact voltage tester to verify all wires have no power.
    4. Disconnect wires and cap the ends.

    Step 2 — Identify Your Circuit Type

    Open both switch boxes and compare the wiring to the three circuit types below. If your wiring doesn't match Type A, B, or C, stop and contact a licensed electrician.

    • Type A: Power comes to one switch box first, passes through both boxes, then to the load. Both boxes contain a single 2-wire AND a single 3-wire. The load has a single 2-wire feeding it.
    • Type B: Power comes to one switch box, passes through the load, then to the other box. One box has a single 2-wire + single 3-wire; the other box has a single 3-wire; the load has two 3-wires.
    • Type C: Power goes to the load first. Both boxes have a single 3-wire each; the load has two 3-wires plus a 2-wire coming in from the panel.

    Tip: label your boxes as you work to keep track of the Load side vs. the Supply/Switch-Leg side.

    Type A — Wiring Steps

    1. A1 — Locate HOT and LOAD: Switch power ON at the panel. Use a non-contact voltage tester to find and label the HOT wire at both switch locations, checking both boxes. Switch power back OFF. The box with the HOT wire is the SUPPLY side (Remote goes here); the other box is the LOAD side (Master goes here).
    2. A2 — Connect devices: Verify power is off with the tester. Wire the Remote to the Supply side per its included instructions, then wire the Master to the Load side per its included instructions.
    3. A3 — Finish: Install wall plates, switch power back ON, verify control from the Master switch, and complete remote device pairing per the device instructions.

    Type B — Wiring Steps

    1. B1 — Locate HOT and LOAD: With power OFF, find the box containing both a 2-wire and a 3-wire — that's the SUPPLY side. The remaining box is the LOAD side.
    2. B2 — Connect devices: Wire the Remote to the Supply side, wire the Master to the Load side, and rewire the light fixture per the wiring diagram in the PDF.
    3. B3 — Finish: Install wall plates, power on, verify Master control, complete device pairing.

    Type C — Wiring Steps

    1. C1 — Locate LEG and LOAD: With power OFF, find the box with a 2-wire and 3-wire — that's the Switch LEG side. The remaining box is the LOAD side.
    2. C2 — Connect devices: Wire the Remote to the switch leg side, wire the Master to the Load side, and rewire the light fixture per the diagram in the PDF.
    3. C3 — Finish: Install wall plates, power on, verify Master control, complete device pairing.

    Full wiring diagrams (color-coded Neutral/Common/Hot/Ground) for all three circuit types are included in the downloadable PDF — recommended reference alongside these steps since wire routing is easier to follow visually.
