Installation instructions for the Legrand On-Q AU7004 Digital Audio Expansion Module, part of the AU7000 series whole-home digital audio distribution system. The AU7004 extends a Digital Audio system to additional remote music zones using Cat 5 cabling.

    Overview

The AU7004 connects via Cat 5 cable jumpers from the central AU7000 unit (or from another AU7004 for cascading expansion) and distributes music to up to four remote locations, where each Cat 5 run terminates at a volume control, amplifier, or other zone device.

    Installation Steps

    1. Run a Cat 5 cable from the structured wiring enclosure to each of up to four remote locations where the cable will terminate at a device such as a volume control or amplifier. If additional AU7004 modules are used, repeat this step for each one.
    2. Ensure a Cat 5 cable run exists from the enclosure to the network device (switch/router port). If the switch/router is local to the enclosure, a short Cat 5 jumper can be used instead.
    3. Ensure Cat 5 jumper cables connect the source devices (such as an AU7001 Digital Audio Input Module or AU7007-xx Global Input) to the AU7000, from the AU7000 to the AU7004, and between each additional AU7004 if cascading multiple expansion modules.
    4. Terminate every Cat 5 cable at both the enclosure end and the remote end with an RJ45 plug, and test each run to confirm proper end-to-end continuity.
    5. At the enclosure, plug each RJ45 Cat 5 connector into the appropriate port, and plug in the 12VDC power cable from the PW7760 power supply. At each remote location, connect and install the remote device (e.g. volume control). Once all connections are made, plug in the PW7760 and verify power has been distributed throughout the system.
