    Installation manual for the Jasco In-Wall Smart Dimmer, Model 43090 (ZB3004) — a Zigbee 3.0 Certified dimmer switch for single-pole or multi-switch (add-on) wiring configurations.

    Getting to Know Your New Zigbee Device

    • Turn ON/OFF and adjust dim levels manually or remotely via the Zigbee controller.
    • Can be added to multiple groups and scenes.
    • Usable in single-pole installation, or with up to four Add-on Switches (12728/46200) in multi-switch configurations.
    • Compatible with all incandescent bulbs and most dimmable CFL/LED bulbs.
    • Auto line/load detection.
    • Over-the-air updates once joined to a Zigbee network, via your Zigbee gateway.
    • Uses a standard toggle wallplate for single-gang installations (wallplate not included).
    • Blue LED indicates the dimmer's location in a dark room (can be enabled/disabled).
    • LED status indicator shows device scanning during the pairing process.
    • Zigbee 3.0 Certified for simple pairing and integrated home automation.
    • Screw terminal installation — requires Line (Hot), Load, Neutral, and Ground connections. A traveler wire is required for multi-switch installation.

    Important! This dimmer is designed only for use with permanently installed fixtures.

    Installation

    ⚠ Warning — Shock Hazard: Turn OFF power to the branch circuit at the service panel before wiring. All connections must be made with power OFF. This device must be installed per the National Electric Code (US) or Canadian Electrical Code and local regulations. If unsure, consult a qualified electrician.

    Single-Switch Wiring

    1. Shut off power to the circuit at the breaker or fuse box; verify power is OFF before continuing.
    2. Remove the wallplate and switch mounting screws, then carefully remove the switch from the box without disconnecting the wires.
    3. Identify the up to five screw terminals: A. GROUND — green/bare; B/C. LINE OR LOAD — black, connected to power or lighting (auto-detected); D. TRAVELER — red/other, 3-way installations only; E. NEUTRAL — white.
    4. Match screw terminals to the existing switch wires, labeling wires by their previous connection.
    5. Use 14 AWG or larger wire, suitable for at least 80°C, for Line, Load, Neutral, Ground, and Traveler connections. This switch is rated for copper wire only.
    6. Wire strip length: 5/8" (16mm) to attach using the enclosure's holes. UL specifies a screw tightening torque of 14 Kgf-cm (12 lbf-in).
    7. Connect the green/bare ground wire to GROUND. Connect the black wire from the light to either LINE/LOAD terminal, and the black wire from the service panel (hot) to the other LINE/LOAD terminal. Connect the white wire to NEUTRAL (use a jumper wire if needed).
    8. The Traveler terminal is only used for 3-way/4-way wiring — do not connect it in a 2-way (one switch, one load) installation.
    9. Insert the dimmer into the box carefully, avoiding pinched or crushed wires, secure with the supplied screws, and mount the wallplate.
    10. Reapply power at the fuse box/breaker and test the system.

    Multi-Switch Wiring

    For 3-way installations, refer to the Add-on Switch (12728/46200) manual. Before installation, you may wish to change the paddle color to match your wallplate or décor.

    Insert wires into terminal holes — do not wrap wires around screws, and do not remove the screws.

    Basic Operation

    The connected light can be turned ON/OFF and dimmed in two ways: (1) manually from the front panel of the dimmer, or (2) remotely with a Zigbee controller.

    Manual Control

    • To turn the fixture ON: press and release the top of the toggle.
    • To turn the fixture OFF: press and release the bottom of the toggle.

    Adjust Dim Levels

    • To increase brightness: press and hold the top of the toggle.
    • To decrease brightness: press and hold the bottom of the toggle.

    Cycle LED Guide Light

    The LED below the dimmer acts as a guide light or status indicator. Cycle through options by pressing up three times and down once, quickly:

    1. LED is OFF all the time (default).
    2. LED is ON when the load is OFF (guide light in the dark).
    3. LED is ON when the load is ON (indicates the switch is ON).

    Reset Device (Remove from Zigbee Network)

    Follow the instructions provided by your Zigbee controller/gateway to remove the device from the network.

    ⚠ Caution: To reduce the risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not install to control a receptacle, a motor-operated appliance, a fluorescent lighting fixture, or a transformer-supplied appliance. Only use to control incandescent or dimmable CFL/LED bulbs. Do not exceed ratings. Do not use to control any device where unintended operation could cause unsafe conditions (heat lamp, sun lamp, etc). For indoor use only.

    Not for use with medical or life-support equipment. Zigbee-enabled devices should never be used to supply power to or control the on/off status of medical or life-support equipment.
