Installation and reference manual for the Jasco/Enbrighten ZB3002 (model 43080) In-Wall Smart Dimmer — a Zigbee 3.0 Certified smart dimmer switch for incandescent and dimmable CFL/LED lighting.

Overview

The ZB3002 In-Wall Smart Dimmer turns lights ON/OFF and adjusts dim levels manually or remotely via a Zigbee controller. It can be added to multiple groups and scenes, used in single-pole installations, or with up to four Enbrighten add-on switches (models 12728/46200) in multi-switch (3-way/4-way) wiring configurations.

Safety Warnings

Shock hazard: Turn OFF power to the branch circuit at the service panel before wiring. All connections must be made with power OFF. Installation must comply with the National Electric Code (US) or Canadian Electrical Code and local regulations. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.

Risk of fire, electrical shock, and burns when controlling appliances:

• To reduce risk of overheating and equipment damage, do NOT install to control a receptacle, motor-operated appliance, fluorescent lighting fixture, or transformer-supplied appliance.
• Only use to control incandescent or dimmable CFL/LED bulbs.
• Do not exceed ratings.
• Do not use to control any device where unintended operation could cause unsafe conditions (heat lamp, sun lamp, etc.).
• For indoor use only.
• Zigbee-enabled devices should never be used to supply power to or control the on/off status of medical or life-support equipment.

Wiring requirements: This switch is rated for and intended only for use with copper wire. Use 14 AWG or larger wire suitable for at least 105°C for line (hot), load, neutral, ground, and traveler connections. Strip length: 5/8 in. (16mm) for enclosure holes. UL-specified screw tightening torque: 14 kgf-cm (12 lbf-in).

Installation

Single-Switch Wiring

1. Shut off power to the circuit at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify power is OFF before continuing.
2. Remove the wallplate and the switch mounting screws.
3. Carefully remove the switch from the switch box — do NOT disconnect the wires.
4. Identify the up-to-5 screw terminals: A. Ground (Green/Bare), B/C. Line or Load (Black — connected to power or lighting), D. Traveler (Red/other — 3-way/4-way only), E. Neutral (White).
5. Disconnect the wires from the existing switch, labeling them according to their previous terminal connections.
6. Connect the green/bare ground wire to the GROUND terminal, the black wire from the light to either LINE/LOAD terminal, the black wire from the service panel (hot) to the other LINE/LOAD terminal, and the white wire to the NEUTRAL terminal (use a jumper wire if needed). The traveler terminal is used only for 3-way/4-way wiring — do not connect it in a 2-way (one switch, one load) system.
7. Insert the dimmer into the switch box carefully, avoiding pinching wires. Mount independently, vertical position only. Secure with the supplied screws.
8. Mount the wallplate.
9. Reapply power at the fuse box/circuit breaker and test the system.

Multi-switch wiring: For 3-way/4-way installations, refer to the Enbrighten add-on switch (12728/46200) manual. Connecting the traveler terminal of this dimmer to a standard switch will cause damage or improper function — do not connect the traveler wire or apply power until add-on switches are correctly installed.

Zigbee Network Pairing

1. From the Zigbee controller's interface, choose to add a lighting device and enter locating/pairing mode as instructed by the controller.
2. Restore power to the smart dimmer at the circuit breaker.
3. Network pairing begins automatically — the LED status indicator blinks while the dimmer scans for a compatible network controller.
4. Once located and paired, the LED stops blinking and the dimmer appears in the controller's menu, ready for remote control.

Note: The LED status indicator stops blinking if a timeout occurs; auto-scan mode eventually times out if the device hasn't joined a network — restart the pairing process after timeout. If prompted for an install code, refer to the QR code label on the product (example format: 39F9-0CA3-09F2-4C6F-8080-131B-6EE4-1E95-D22E).

Reset / Remove from Zigbee Network

• From the controller: choose to remove or delete the smart dimmer as instructed by your controller/hub interface.
• Manual reset: tap the top of the rocker (ON button) 10 times quickly to manually remove the dimmer from the Zigbee network.

Basic Operation

Manual Control

• To turn the connected fixture ON, press the top of the rocker.
• To turn the connected fixture OFF, press the bottom of the rocker.

Adjust Dim Levels

• To increase brightness, press and hold the top of the rocker.
• To decrease brightness, press and hold the bottom of the rocker.

Cycle LED Light

The LED below the dimmer acts as a guide light or status indicator. To cycle through options, press up three times and down once quickly:

1. LED is ON when the load is OFF (guide light in the dark) — default
2. LED is ON when the load is ON (indicates the dimmer is ON)
3. LED is always OFF

Changing Paddle Color (Optional)

1. Lift the air gap tab at the base of the paddle.
2. Push side tabs in on one side, then the other, to release the paddle. Lift the cover up and off.
3. Put the new paddle onto the dimmer by inserting the air gap and side tabs, snapping securely into place.

Note on bulb compatibility: actual performance of any CFL or LED bulb varies by bulb type and manufacturer — only bulbs designed as dimmable should be used on a dimmer.
