Operation instructions for the Intrasonic Technology RETRO-M Retrofit Intercom & Music Distribution System β master station setup, room/patio/door station operation, and radio/intercom configuration.
Operation guide for the Intrasonic Technology RETRO-M Retrofit Intercom & Music Distribution System β a dual-source music and intercom system that integrates portable music players (via docking station or aux input) with whole-home intercom communication across room, patio, and door stations.
The RETRO-M system is made up of 5 possible components:
Note: Due to the variety of portable music devices and charging modes, not all devices are guaranteed to charge via the docking station's Firewire/USB ports.
MENU β SYSTEM β ENTER β cursor on CLOCK β ENTER. Use UP/DOWN to select 12 or 24 hour format; RIGHT then UP/DOWN for AM/PM; RIGHT to select hours/minutes and UP/DOWN to set. ENTER to save, MENU Γ3 to return to main screen.
MENU β SYSTEM β ENTER β RIGHT to INTERCOM β ENTER. UP/DOWN sets level. ENTER to save, MENU Γ2 to return.
MENU β select RADIO (or AUX) β ENTER. Cursor moves between BASS, TREBLE, VOLUME β press ENTER on each, adjust with UP/DOWN, ENTER to confirm. MENU to exit.
MENU β SYSTEM β ENTER β scroll to AUTO β ENTER. Select Auto-On, choose Enable/Disable; if enabled, set AM/PM and the time using RIGHT + UP/DOWN. Repeat for Auto-Off. ENTER to save, MENU Γ3 to return.
MENU β SYSTEM β ENTER β select FIRMWARE β ENTER to display the current firmware revision (useful for troubleshooting). ENTER to exit, MENU Γ2 to return.
MENU β SYSTEM β ENTER β select AUX β ENTER. Set BASS, TREBLE, VOLUME individually via LEFT/RIGHT + ENTER + UP/DOWN. MENU Γ3 to return.
MENU β SYSTEM β ENTER β RESET β ENTER. Choose "Reset" (single unit) or "Reset (ALL)". Confirm with MENU (YES) or cancel with ENTER (NO). MENU Γ3 to return.
MENU β UNIT β select station with UP/DOWN β ENTER β cursor on Privacy β ENTER β LEFT/RIGHT to choose OFF/ON β ENTER to confirm.
MENU β UNIT β ENTER (Master) β select LIGHT β choose OFF, LOW, or HIGH β ENTER. MENU Γ3 to return.
MENU β UNIT β select a room station with UP/DOWN β ENTER. Set Mode to Normal (all functions), Audio (music only), Intercom (intercom only), or Off. Under Name, use LEFT/RIGHT to pick a digit and UP/DOWN to change it (letters, symbols, or numbers). ENTER to save each selection.
Turn Monitor On/Off; use Select to choose which stations to monitor (Y/N per station); set Type to Normal (listen only, no talk) or Override (monitored room can answer intercom calls). Press EXIT to leave the setup screens.
10 presets, each assignable to AM or FM. From the radio screen, press ENTER, choose AM or FM, tune to the desired frequency, press ENTER (SAVE), then pick the preset number (1β10) with UP/DOWN and press ENTER. Hint: hold LEFT/RIGHT for 3 seconds to engage automatic seek.
Press ENTER from the main screen to reach Source-Select. Use LEFT/RIGHT to choose FM, AM, or AUX, then ENTER to activate. An asterisk (*) marks the current source. There are two aux inputs β the docking-station 3.5mm jack takes priority over the optional wall-plate aux input if both are connected simultaneously.
Room stations have Source, Listen, Talk, Volume, Set, and Privacy buttons. SOURCE cycles between AM/FM radio and Aux 1/Aux 2 (mirroring whichever input is active at the master). LISTEN and TALK handle intercom; TALK is an all-call until a station answers, then the call goes private (Automatic Selective Call) and other stations resume their prior audio. PRIVACY blocks other stations from monitoring this one. SET toggles the radio (5-second hold) or scans presets (momentary press) β and post-2013 units also use SET to trigger the optional door-unlock feature. Hold SOURCE for 5 seconds to listen to the door station; it auto-cancels after 30 seconds of inactivity.
The Patio Station operates identically to the Room Station but omits the LISTEN button for security reasons.
When the doorbell is pressed, music mutes at the master and room stations and the chime sounds. Press TALK on the master or any room station to answer; release TALK to listen. Communication with the door station stays active as long as there's ongoing dialogue, and deactivates automatically after 30 seconds of silence.
Door station speaker volume is adjusted via a screw on the back of the door unit's circuit board (accessible only by opening the unit).
There are 5 selectable door chimes: MENU β UNIT β select door station β ENTER β CHIME β ENTER, choose 1β5, ENTER to save, MENU Γ3 to return.
