Quick setup guide for the Qolsys IQ WiFi 6 mesh router system, covering internet connection, mesh expansion, IQ Panel pairing, network configuration, Alarm.com integration, and troubleshooting.
Quick guide for the Qolsys IQ WiFi 6 mesh router system, designed for use with Qolsys IQ Panels and IQ Hubs in an Alarm.com-connected security system. Document #IQWIFI6-IM, Revision 2022-8. Johnson Controls proprietary.
Pro tip: If you're adding additional IQ WiFi 6 units, use this time to unbox and power them up.
You can add up to seven additional IQ WiFi 6 units to cover dead spots and improve performance.
Pro tip: Once the sync LED on the Primary IQ WiFi 6 is solid, you can repeat WPS pairing for additional units.
Important: Make sure the IQ Panel software is version 2.7.2, 3.1.0, or 4.2.0 or higher before pairing to the network.
Note: Changing one network (2.4 or 5 GHz) will automatically change the other to match. If you want existing devices to automatically move to the new network, keep the name and password identical to the previous network.
Using the Alarm.com MobileTech app, find the customer account, then:
IQ WiFi 6 broadcasts 3 SSID/network names:
Using the network credentials created in step 4, add any new devices to the MAIN network first (you'll move security devices to the SECURITY network in the next step). To move security devices to the security network, log into the Alarm.com customer account, choose "Wireless Network" under Video settings, select the "Security" SSID/Network, and choose "Access Point" (touch "Advanced" to apply to all cameras). Cameras will move automatically.
IQ WiFi 6 settings and controls automatically appear in the end user's Alarm.com mobile app, including: manage Wi-Fi profiles, view Wi-Fi device list, pause Wi-Fi, and guest network controls. The Alarm.com app is available in the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, and more. A standalone "IQ WiFi" app is also available for end users who are not yet Alarm.com customers.
IQ WiFi 6 link quality between the primary controller and secondary agents can be identified using the LEDs on each unit. To improve link quality, try moving the unit to various locations on-site.
Factory Reset: Press and hold the reset button with a paperclip for 15 seconds until the power LED blinks red; release when the LED is solid red.
