Product overview for the Intellithings RoomMe Sensor — person-specific room occupancy identification for smart home automation.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Product overview for the Intellithings RoomMe Sensor — the first occupancy sensor that identifies who specifically is in a room, enabling person-specific smart home automation and family monitoring.

    Overview

RoomMe brings person-specific room automation to any smart home, based on specific-person indoor location identification. Featured at CES 2020, it enables rooms and devices to change and adjust automatically based on who's actually present.

    Home Automation

    Personalized Automation

RoomMe enables Smart Home users to create person-specific automations that set smart devices in a room based on personal preferences and time of presence. For example, based on the identified person in the room:

    • Lights change brightness, tone, and color.
    • Thermostats change their set temperature.
    • Smart speakers play a favorite radio station / playlist / source and can follow the user as they move to other rooms.
    • IP cameras stop recording when that person is in the room.
    • Smart coffee machines set to a preferred program.

    Touch and Voice Free Automation

RoomMe automatically triggers personal scenes based on who's in a room and the time of presence — no need to talk or press buttons. This is especially useful for people with disabilities.

    Energy Saving

RoomMe identifies when a room becomes vacant and enables users to create room-leave automation scenes that automatically set devices to OFF / Energy Saving Mode.

    Family Monitoring

Discrete presence monitoring of family members. RoomMe users can ask their voice assistants or get event-triggered occupancy reports that tell where and when family members were last identified at home:

    • Child Monitoring — Parents can verify their children are back from school and see where at home they spend their time.
    • Aging In-Place Parent Monitoring — Children can verify their aging in-place parents haven't suspiciously stayed in one room too long.

    False Alarm Prevention

RoomMe enables users with IFTTT-connected alarm systems to get alarm-time and arm-time occupancy reports (as text or email), helping identify and avoid false alarms:

    • On Alarm — Identify if a family member at home might be causing the false alarm.
    • Upon Alarm System Arming — Identify if family members are in zones about to become active, avoiding false alarms before they happen.

    Design Highlights

    • Quick and Easy to Install — wireless and battery operated; installed in minutes by any DIYer.
    • Safe and Robust — does not use biometrics, voice, images, or video to identify people. No personal details are collected; room location identification happens on the sensor itself.
