    Installation instructions for the Inovonics EN4204/R EchoStream® Add-On Receiver — a 4-zone wireless receiver with relay outputs (EN4204R) or open-collector outputs (EN4204), used to add up to four supervised wireless transmitters to any security or automation system.

    Overview

    The EN4204/R receiver allows up to four transmitters to be added to any application. With diversity reception and advanced Inovonics Wireless EchoStream signal processing, it's designed to minimize dead spots in transmission areas.

    Quick Start

    1. Open the receiver housing (press the housing release tabs).
    2. Connect the power cabling (11–14 VDC, unswitched, uninterrupted, regulated).
    3. Set the frequency band via the jumper pins (see below).
    4. Press the Advance button to select the first transmitter point to program.
    5. Press the Program button to begin programming that point.
    6. Use Advance to choose a supervision window (None, 2h, 4h, 96h); press Program to advance to output option.
    7. Use Advance to select the output number; press Program to advance to output type.
    8. Use Advance to select the output type (Follower, Momentary, Toggle, Latching). On EN4204, press Program to advance to switch type; on EN4204R, press Program to skip to registering a transmitter.
    9. (EN4204 only) Use Advance to choose N/O or N/C switch type; press Program to complete.
    10. To register a transmitter to the point, press the transmitter's Reset button; otherwise press Program to save without registering.
    11. Press Advance to move to the next transmitter point and repeat steps 5–10.
    12. (EN4204 only) Press Advance to choose the fault output type (N/O or N/C); press Program to complete.
    13. Connect input and output cabling, then mount the receiver.

    Caution: Always press Advance (not Program) to move to the next transmitter point — pressing Program instead will reprogram the point you already set.

    Output Types

    • Follower: Output reflects the transmitter's alarm status.
    • Momentary: Output turns on for 7 seconds, then off, regardless of device status.
    • Toggle: Output changes state each new activation (minimum 4 seconds between activations).
    • Latching: Output turns on when activated and stays on until the receiver is reset.

    Frequency Band Selection

    • Jumper off the pins → 902–928 MHz (North America)
    • Jumper on top two pins (NZ) → 921–928 MHz (New Zealand)
    • Jumper on bottom two pins (AUS) → 915–928 MHz (Australia)

    North America is also selected when the jumper is attached to only one pin (prevents losing the jumper). Cycle power after changing the frequency band.

    LEDs and Buttons

    Normal Operation Mode

    • Alarm LED: Lit when any transmitter sends an alarm transmission.
    • Tamper Fault LED: Lit when any transmitter sends a tamper transmission.
    • Low Battery Fault LED: Lit when any transmitter has a low battery.
    • Inactive Fault LED: Lit when any transmitter is inactive.
    • Power LED: Lit when receiving power.
    • Transmitter Number LEDs: Lit when that transmitter is in alarm.
    • Advance Button: Enters status review mode.
    • Decode LED: Flashes on any recognizable transmission received (visible only with the pry-out door/cover removed).
    • Reset Button: Clears status for all points, resets outputs/LEDs and supervision window timers (accessible only with pry-out door/cover removed).

    Status Review Mode

    Same LEDs report the status of the currently-selected transmitter (scroll with Advance) instead of all transmitters.

    Connecting Power and Cabling

    • Power: 11–14 VDC, unswitched/uninterrupted/regulated, to the Power and GND terminals.
    • Tamper output (optional): N/O, reports receiver case tamper to an external device.
    • Jam output (optional): N/C, opens when noise thresholds on all channels stay above a preset value for 30 of any 60 seconds; set to follow output type.
    • Reset input (optional): remote momentary N/O switch to clear faults, unlatch outputs, and reset the receiver.
    • EN4204: four open-collector alarm outputs + one open-collector fault output.
    • EN4204R: four Form C relay alarm outputs + one Form C relay fault output.

    Mounting

    Caution: Mount away from metal (ductwork, wire mesh, boxes) — metal reduces RF range.

    1. Mount using the provided anchors and screws in a location accessible for future maintenance.
    2. Perform a walk test, activating each assigned transmitter and confirming an appropriate response.

    Factory Config Reset

    Caution: This erases all programmed point, output, and language information.

    1. Hold down the Reset and Advance buttons.
    2. While held down, cycle EN4204 power.

    Warranty

    Inovonics Wireless Corporation warrants its products to conform to specifications and be free of material/workmanship defects for 36 months from the date of manufacture. Repair or replacement at Inovonics' option; dismantling/reinstallation charges are not covered. Warranty is void for improper installation, misuse, alteration, accident/tampering, or repair by anyone other than Inovonics.
