    Installation instructions for the Inovonics EN1723 Dual Input Temperature Sensor — a wireless EchoStream transmitter providing both internal (on-board) and external thermistor temperature measurement options in a single device.

    Overview

    The on-board sensor is excellent for monitoring ambient indoor temperature, while the external sensor input is user-selectable to match your specific application. EN1723 transmitters are programmed at the factory; it is not usually necessary to reprogram them, though parameters can be changed via the programming header if needed.

    Components (Figure 1)

    Install / Replace the Battery

    1. Pry the top lip of the mounting bracket up and lift the bracket off the transmitter.
    2. Use your thumb to depress the housing release tab on the bottom of the transmitter and separate the housing.
    3. Install the new battery.
    4. Press the Reset button to initialize the transmitter.

    Mount an External Thermistor

    The transmitter uses an on-board thermistor by default. To use an external thermistor instead/in addition:

    1. Wire the external thermistor using 24-gauge wire, no more than 40 feet long.
    2. Route the wiring through either the rectangular cutouts on the back of the housing/bracket, or the rounded wiring cutout at the top of the housing. Note: using the top cutout requires trimming the bracket.
    3. Use a small screwdriver to attach the wiring leads to the terminal block.
    4. Place a jumper on the external thermistor selection pins, allowing the transmitter to use the external thermistor in addition to the on-board thermistor.
    5. Press the Reset button to complete configuration.

    Select the Frequency Band

    EchoStream products can use a range of radio frequencies and must be configured for your geographic area:

    1. Place a selection jumper on the appropriate frequency band selection pins:
      • Top two pins (marked NZ) — 921–928 MHz for New Zealand
      • Bottom two pins (marked AU) — 915–928 MHz for Australia
      • No jumper — 902–928 MHz for North America
    2. Press the Reset button to complete configuration.

    Caution: When pressing the Reset button, make sure you don't also touch the frequency band selection pins — doing so can inadvertently set the transmitter to the wrong frequency band.

    Mount the Transmitter

    1. Attach the mounting bracket to the wall using screws or double-sided tape. Note: there are two mounting holes for standard installation; an optional third mounting hole is located under the battery, used to secure the housing to the bracket.
    2. Hook the bottom of the transmitter into the bracket's bottom catch, and press the transmitter into the bracket so the bracket's top lip snaps into place.

    Warranty

    Inovonics Wireless Corporation warrants its EchoStream products to conform to specifications and be free of material/workmanship defects under normal use for 36 months from date of manufacture. Within the warranty period, Inovonics will repair or replace, at its option, the warranted product (Inovonics is not responsible for dismantling/reinstallation charges). To exercise the warranty, work through your authorized distributor, who will obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number.

    The warranty is void in cases of improper installation, misuse, failure to follow instructions, alteration, accident, tampering, or repair by anyone other than Inovonics. This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied; Inovonics will not be liable for incidental, consequential, indirect, special, or exemplary damages.
