Inovonics EN1212 — EchoStream Universal Transmitter Installation Guide

Installation instructions for the Inovonics EN1212 EchoStream® Universal Transmitter — a wireless dual-input transmitter designed for use with any standard contact or sensor, for use with a serial receiver or network coordinator (Installation Instructions 05178E).

Overview

The EN1212 is a universal dual-input transmitter designed to be used with any standard contact or sensor. It requires use of a serial receiver or network coordinator, along with an application designed to support advanced functionality.

EN1212 Components

• A — Tamper button and spring
• B — NO/NC selection pins
• C — Input one terminal
• D — Ground terminal
• E — Input two terminal
• F — Reset button
• G — Frequency band selection pins

Install / Replace the Battery

1. Pry the top lip of the mounting bracket up, and lift the bracket off the transmitter.
2. Use your thumb to depress the housing release tab on the bottom of the transmitter; separate the housing.
3. If replacing a battery, use the hole in the back of the housing to push the old battery out of the battery holder.
4. Install the new battery.
5. Press the Reset button to initialize the transmitter.

Select the Frequency Band

EchoStream products use a range of radio frequencies and must be configured for your geographic area:

• Jumper on the left two pins (marked NZ): 921–928 MHz for New Zealand.
• Jumper on the right two pins (marked AU): 915–928 MHz for Australia.
• No jumper on the pins: 902–928 MHz for North America.

Press the Reset button to complete configuration. Caution: When pressing Reset, avoid touching the frequency band selection pins — doing so simultaneously can inadvertently set the wrong frequency band.

Connect Input Wiring

The transmitter has a three-terminal contact block that connects inputs from one or two external contact loops. The middle terminal is a shared ground for both loops. Input one can be configured as normally open or normally closed via the NO/NC selection pins; input two is always normally closed.

Select Input Type

The terminal ships set for normally closed, with no jumper on the N/O selection pins.

1. Place a jumper on the selection pins to select normally open; remove the jumper to select normally closed.
2. Press the Reset button to complete configuration.

Register the EN1212

Transmitters must be registered with the system to be monitored and supervised. Once supervised, the transmitter sends a check-in message to the receiver every three minutes. Each transmitter has a unique factory-programmed identification number. Refer to the receiver's installation instructions for registration details.

1. When prompted by the receiver to reset the transmitter, press the Reset button.
2. Replace the cover.

Caution: Test the EN1212 after registration by activating each condition and confirming an appropriate response.

Mount the EN1212

1. Mount the bracket on the wall with the screws provided.
2. Clip the transmitter onto the bracket — hook the bottom catch first, then press the top into place.
3. The housing may be secured with a third mounting screw, located beneath the battery. Note: accessing this screw on an active transmitter requires opening the housing and removing the battery, which causes a tamper condition.
4. To dismount, carefully pull the transmitter housing out of the mounting bracket from the top.

This equipment complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standards. Operation is subject to the conditions that the device must not cause interference and must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Warranty

Inovonics warrants EchoStream products to conform to specifications and be free of defects in materials and workmanship for 36 months from date of manufacture. Warranty is void in cases of improper installation, misuse, failure to follow instructions, alteration, accident, or tampering. Contact your authorized distributor for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number.
