    Installation instructions for the Inovonics EchoStream® EE4204/R Receiver — adds up to four wireless transmitters to a security system, using diversity reception and advanced signal processing to minimize dead spots.

    Overview

    The EE4204/R receiver supports up to four wireless transmitters in any application. The EE4204R variant adds Form C relay outputs (vs. open-collector on the standard EE4204).

    LEDs and Buttons — Normal Operation Mode

    • Alarm LED: lights when any transmitter sends an alarm transmission.
    • Tamper Fault LED: lights when any transmitter sends a tamper transmission.
    • Low Battery Fault LED: lit when any transmitter has a low battery.
    • Inactive Fault LED: lit when any transmitter is inactive.
    • Power LED: lit when receiving power.
    • Transmitter Number LEDs: lit when that transmitter is in alarm.
    • Advance Button: press to enter Status Review Mode.
    • Decode LED: flashes on any recognizable transmission (visible only with the pry-out door/cover removed).
    • Reset Button: clears current status for all points, resets all outputs/LEDs, and resets supervision window timers (accessible only with the cover removed).

    Status Review Mode

    Same LED indicators as above, but reflecting the status of the transmitter currently selected via the Advance button, which scrolls through registered transmitters.

    Installation and Startup

    1. Connect Power Cabling

    Connect power to the Power and GND terminals before startup. Power source must be 11–14 VDC, unswitched, uninterrupted, and regulated.

    2. Enable EchoStream Select (ES) Compatibility (if needed)

    To meet ETSI requirements, Inovonics 868MHz-only products need EchoStream Select compatibility enabled if any older ES products are present in the system:

    1. To enable: place a selection jumper (included in the hardware packet) on the ES selection pins.
    2. If no ES products are used: remove the selection jumper from the ES pins.
    3. Cycle power after changing the jumper setting.

    3. Program the Receiver

    Default settings:

    To program a transmitter point or the fault output:

    1. Use a small screwdriver to press the housing release tabs on either side and separate the housing.
    2. Use the Advance button to select one of the 4 transmitter points, or the fault output. Note: if a transmitter is already registered to the chosen point, the Delete LED lights — press Advance to delete and return to normal operation, or Program to continue reprogramming.
    3. Press Program to begin programming the point (advances directly to the supervision window option if unregistered).
    4. Use Advance to choose a supervision window: None, 2h, 4h, or 96h. Press Program to continue.
    5. Use Advance to select the output number, then press Program.
    6. Use Advance to select the output type — Follower (output reflects the transmitter's alarm status), Momentary (output on for 7 seconds regardless of device status), Toggle (output changes state on each new activation, min. 4 seconds between activations), or Latching (output stays on until the receiver is reset). Press Program to continue.
    7. Use Advance to choose N/O or N/C switch type. Press Program to complete.
    8. All option LEDs light and the programmed point's LED flashes. To register a transmitter to this point, press that transmitter's Reset button; otherwise press Program to save without registering.

    Registration confirmation: all alert LEDs turn off once the receiver receives the transmitter's registration message, and the point number LED lights for 2 seconds. If this doesn't happen, press Reset on the transmitter again.

    Note: the only programmable parameter for the fault output is N/O vs. N/C. Selecting "F" auto-advances an EE4204 to the switch option; an EE4204R will not advance further.

    4. Factory Config Reset

    Caution: this erases all programmed point, output, and language information.

    1. Hold down the Reset and Advance buttons together.
    2. While holding both, cycle power to the EE4204.

    5. Connect Input/Output Cabling

    1. Tamper output: optional N/O output that reports case tamper to an external device.
    2. Jam output: optional N/C output that opens when noise thresholds on all transmission channels stay above a set value for any 30 seconds within a 60-second window. Set to "follow" output type.
    3. Reset input: optional remote momentary N/O switch circuit to clear faults, unlatch outputs, and reset the receiver.
    4. Connect cabling to the output terminals.
    5. Close the receiver housing.

    6. Mount the Receiver

    Caution: mount away from metal (duct work, wire mesh, boxes), which reduces RF range. Use the provided anchors/screws to mount in a location accessible for future maintenance, then perform a walk test, activating each assigned transmitter and confirming an appropriate response.

    Warranty

    Inovonics Wireless Corporation warrants its products to conform to specifications and be free of defects in materials/workmanship under normal use for 36 months from the date of manufacture. Within the warranty period, Inovonics will repair or replace the product at its option (dismantling/reinstallation charges not covered). Warranty claims go through your authorized distributor, who obtains a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number from Inovonics. Void in cases of improper installation, misuse, failure to follow instructions, alteration, accident, tampering, or repair by anyone other than Inovonics. This warranty is exclusive and applies only to Inovonics products — not to accessories or attachments from other manufacturers used with them.
