Installation and configuration manual for the HomeSeer HS-MS100+ Z-Wave Motion Sensor, covering inclusion/exclusion, sensor operation, and advanced Z-Wave parameters.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and configuration manual for the HomeSeer HS-MS100+ Z-Wave Motion Sensor — a compact, battery- or USB-powered motion sensor with magnetic mount that can directly control Z-Wave switches/plug-in modules or trigger home automation events. Includes shock (tamper) detection and adjustable battery-level reporting.

    Overview & Applications

    • Activate Z-Wave wall switches or plug-in modules when motion is sensed.
    • Trigger home automation events/scenes when motion is sensed.

Powered by 1x CR123A battery (included) or a micro USB power adapter (not included). Includes a Z-Wave network button (inclusion/exclusion) and a blue LED operation indicator.

    Z-Wave Network Installation

Remove the back cover by rotating counter-clockwise, then install the CR123A battery, or connect via micro USB.

Secure Inclusion (recommended if your controller supports S0/S2 encryption)

    1. Put your home controller into Z-Wave "inclusion" mode.
    2. Press and hold the Z-Wave network button for 5 seconds, then release. Wait for inclusion to finish.

    Non-Secure Inclusion

    1. Put your home controller into Z-Wave "inclusion" mode.
    2. Quickly press and release the Z-Wave network button once. Wait for inclusion to finish.

    Exclusion

    1. Put your home automation controller into Z-Wave "exclusion" mode.
    2. Quickly triple-press the Z-Wave network button. Wait for exclusion to finish.

    Factory Reset

Use when the Z-Wave controller is missing or inoperable: press and hold the Z-Wave button for 20 seconds. Release once the LED stops blinking and glows solidly.

    Physical Installation

Install the magnetic mount using the supplied double-stick tape or a screw, then attach the main unit to the mount and point the sensor dome (lens) toward the area you want to monitor.

    Sensor Operation

    • Motion Sensor: Transmits a Z-Wave command when motion is sensed, and another command after motion stops for the configured "motion timeout" interval (default 600 seconds / 10 minutes, adjustable via Z-Wave parameter).
    • Shock Sensor: Transmits a Z-Wave command when the unit is physically moved — useful for detecting if it's been removed from its mount or tampered with.
    • Battery Sensor: Reports battery level every 43,200 seconds (12 hours) by default; interval adjustable (0–2,678,400 seconds) via the Z-Wave tab on the root device in HomeSeer. Disabled on line-powered units.

    Important Notes

    • Line-powered devices function as Z-Wave repeaters. If powering the HS-MS100+ with batteries, include it into your network ON BATTERY POWER to prevent unwanted repeating, which would quickly drain the battery.
    • Supports Group 1 association, reporting sensor status and battery level (if battery-powered).

    Advanced Configuration (Z-Wave Parameters)

Accessible via the "Root device" in a HomeSeer system. Before adjusting settings, tap the network button 4 times to wake the unit.
