    User's manual for the Hanna Products Mail Chime™ Model 1200 — a wireless mailbox notification system that alerts you inside the house when the mailbox door opens.

    How It Works

    When the mailbox door is opened, the Receiver in the house beeps four times and displays a red LED light. After retrieving your mail, press the reset button to reset.

    Package Contents

    • Mail Chime™ Transmitter
    • Mail Chime™ Receiver
    • 12 volt, A23 battery (for the transmitter — purchase at most drug/battery stores)
    • AC adaptor (for the receiver)

    Setup Instructions

    1. Remove the transmitter's top case by removing the four screws.
    2. Place the battery into the battery holder, ensuring the positive end faces toward the knob at the end of the case.
    3. Reassemble the case using the 4 screws (insert screws from the top).
    4. Set the dial setting for your mailbox type (see table below).
    5. Peel the protective cover off the double-faced tape on the bottom of the transmitter and attach it to your mailbox door, noting the direction of the arrows.
    6. Plug the AC adaptor into the back of the receiver and into a wall outlet.
    7. Straighten the receiver's antenna vertically.
    8. Adjust the volume control knob on the back of the receiver — you may turn the sound off and rely on only the LED light if preferred.
    9. When you press the reset button to turn off the red light, do not hold it down for more than 1–2 seconds. Press down firmly and let up.

    Dial Settings by Mailbox Type

    Curb Side #4 Mount with arrows on transmitter pointing up toward the top of the mailbox door (arrows should point toward you when you open the door).
    Wall Mounted (large tapered lids) #3 Mount with arrows on transmitter pointing up.
    Wall Mounted (short tapered lids, flat tops) #2 Mount with arrows on transmitter pointing up.
    Slot Type #4 Mount with arrows on transmitter pointing up towards the hinge.

    Recode Procedure

    It is very unlikely that you'll ever need to use this procedure — your unit will not lose its code unless someone holds the receiver's reset button down for an extended period. Only use this as a last resort if you feel there's a problem with your unit.

    1. Remove the transmitter from your mailbox door by removing the four screws.
    2. Place the transmitter down on a surface next to the receiver, battery facing up.
    3. Hold down the reset button on the receiver until the lights go out (about 8–9 seconds). The light will come back on — don't worry about it.
    4. Release the reset button and immediately turn the transmitter over so the battery faces down on the table.
    5. You should hear either 2 quick beeps or 4 long beeps (depending on your unit's age), confirming the re-code was successful.
    6. Test your unit in your home before mounting it back on your mailbox.
    7. After re-coding, keep the transmitter with the battery facing up (off position) until you're ready to remount it on your mailbox door.

    Troubleshooting

    1. Check that you mounted the transmitter correctly on your mailbox.
    2. For a curb-side mailbox, check that the arrows point toward you when you open the door.
    3. Check that the battery is installed correctly.
    4. Move the receiver to a different location.
    5. The transmitter uses a ball tilt switch, so it's normal to hear a rattle when you tip it.
    6. Remember that the four screws on the transmitter go into the base from the top side.
    7. Units are made as matched sets — if you purchase a replacement unit, do not mix the new one with the old.
    8. The knob on the transmitter is set to #4 for curb-side mailboxes by default — don't move it unless you have a wall-mounted or slot-type mailbox.

    Limited Warranty

    During the first 30 days, defective units must be returned to the retailer for an exchange. After 30 days, defective units must be returned with prepaid postage to Hanna Products Inc. along with the sales receipt showing the purchase date. Units returned within the first six months from purchase will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Units returned after six months up to one year from purchase must be accompanied by an $18.00 restocking, shipping & handling fee.
