    Full text manual (for reference)

Operation manual for the HAI ZigBee MicroControl (Model 81A00-2ZB) — a tabletop or wall-mount touchscreen display used to view and control ZigBee-enabled loads, thermostats (Omnistat2), and devices. Features a timed Energy Savings Mode and an internal backup battery for up to 24 hours of standby operation during a power outage.

    What's Included

    • MicroControl unit
    • USB cable and power adapter
    • This manual

    Setup & Installation

    1. Unpack the MicroControl. Adjust the foot stand by holding the unit and gently pressing the side buttons to swing the foot out for a comfortable viewing angle.
    2. Can sit on a table or be wall-mounted using the mounting holes on the foot stand.
    3. Insert one end of the supplied USB cable into the USB connector on the side of the MicroControl; connect the other end to the supplied USB Power Adapter, then plug into an outlet.

For best results: keep the ZIM at least 5 feet from electronic devices, avoid areas exposed to moisture, and avoid areas with excessive metal or electrical wiring.

    Sleep Mode

If AC power is lost or the unit is unplugged, the MicroControl keeps running on its internal backup battery, entering sleep mode 30 minutes after the last button press. To wake it, press and hold the Wakeup Button (top edge) for three seconds.

Home Screen & Energy Saving Mode

The Home screen shows the current time and gives access to menus for loads, temperature devices, display configuration, and ZigBee network setup — plus status for up to three configured ZigBee loads/temperature devices.

To activate Energy Savings Mode: from the Home screen, press the Wakeup Button momentarily.

    • Display backlight turns green.
    • Remaining days/time for Energy Savings Mode is displayed (default 4 hours).
    • Heat/Cool setpoints for all connected Omnistat2 thermostats are offset by 4 degrees.
    • All connected Load Control Modules turn off.

Press "Change Time" to adjust the days/time. Cancel Energy Savings Mode at any time by pressing the Wakeup Button momentarily — settings return to their previous/scheduled state.

    Main Menu

Press the "Menu" button from the Home screen to access:

    • Backlight — color (1-100), brightness (1-10), and status (Always On / Always Off / Auto)
    • ZigBee Setup
    • Display Options
    • Set Time/Date
    • Temperature Settings (Fahrenheit/Celsius)
    • Factory Defaults

    Configuring the ZigBee Network

    Enrolling a Device

    1. Put the target ZigBee device into enroll mode.
    2. From the ZigBee Messages screen, press "Enroll," then "Find Device."
    3. Once found, the screen shows the device address, type (Tstat/Display/Load), and signal strength.
    4. Change the device type via the "Type" button if needed, then press "Confirm" to save it to the network.
    5. Optionally give the device a custom name (up to 15 characters) using the on-screen character picker.

    Renaming, Disbanding Devices

    • Rename: ZigBee Messages screen → "Network" → select device → "Change Name."
    • Disband one device: ZigBee Messages screen → "Network" → select device → "Disband."
    • Disband all devices: ZigBee Messages screen → "Network" → highlight "Disband All" → "Ok." Warning: this removes ALL enrolled ZigBee devices — each must be re-enrolled afterward.

    Display Options

Choose up to three ZigBee loads and/or temperature devices to show on the Home screen. From Main Menu → "Display Options," toggle the "X" mark next to each device to add/remove it from the Home screen display.

Set Time, Date & Daylight Saving

Main Menu → "Set Time/Date" lets you set the current time/date and the start/end days of Daylight Saving Time.

    Factory Defaults

Main Menu → "Factory Defaults" resets ALL settings and deletes ALL configured devices. Read the warning message, then confirm with "Yes" or cancel with "Cancel."

    Controlling Loads

    1. From the Home screen, press "Loads" to see a list of available loads.
    2. Select a load to view its Current Status and Demand (if applicable).
    3. Press "Change" to cycle the load through its available states.
    4. Press "Options" to enable/disable or edit the load's program schedule.

Program Schedules: There are 4 time schedules (Morning, Day, Evening, Night periods) shared across all loads assigned to them. Editing a schedule changes it for every device using it. Times adjust in 15-minute increments; set a period and the next period to the same time to disable it.

    Controlling Thermostats

    2. Select a thermostat to view Current Temperature, Cool Setpoint, and Heat Setpoint.
    3. Press "Change," then use UP/DOWN/NEXT to adjust the cool setpoint, heat setpoint, hold status, fan status, or mode.
