Installation guide for the HAI Model 31A00-8 Extended Range Temperature and Humidity Sensor for OmniLT, Omni II, and OmniPro II controllers.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation guide for the HAI Model 31A00-8 Extended Range Temperature and Humidity Sensor, designed for use with an HAI OmniLT, Omni II, or OmniPro II controller (Firmware Version 2.8 or higher).

    Description

The Model 31A00-8 senses temperatures from -40°F to 120°F and relative humidity from 0-100%. It features a high-accuracy temperature sensor that doesn't require calibration.

    • Temperature readings can drive automation programs controlling attics, garages, greenhouses, basements, wine cellars, coolers, and freezers — and can be displayed on the console or spoken over the telephone.
    • The system can log, alert, or trigger an alarm if temperature reaches freeze conditions, or exceeds a high/low setpoint programmed into the system.
    • Humidity limits can trigger actions (bathroom vent fan, A/C dehumidification, humidifier in heating mode) or generate alerts for high/low humidity — useful for combating mold growth in bathrooms, basements, and attics.
    • When mounted outdoors, install under an overhang to protect from direct sun and rain; the unit is sealant-coated for outdoor moisture resistance. Outdoor readings can display on the console, over the phone, or on an HAI communicating thermostat.

    Installation

    1. Each sensor requires one zone input on the HAI controller (or Expander Module) for temperature, and a separate zone input for humidity. It cannot be connected to a zone on an Expansion Enclosure (e.g. Model 17A00) for temperature. The humidity sensor can be used independently of the temperature sensor. Run 4-conductor wire from the controller to each sensor.
    2. Mount using the supplied wall anchors and screws. Mount vertically with the white silk-screened arrow pointing upward, and airflow slots at top and bottom for accurate readings.
    3. Program the temperature zone type as an "Extended Range" device — choose ER Outdoor Temperature (Type 85), ER Temperature (Type 86), or Temperature Alarm (Type 87) depending on the application.
    4. Program the humidity zone type as Humidity (Type 84).

    Wiring

Four-wire connection to the controller: Black and Red for power/ground, Yellow and Green for the temperature (T) and humidity (H) zone signals. At the sensor board, terminals are labeled 12V, GND, H, T.
