HAI 56A00-1 — Recessed Door/Window Transmitter Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for the HAI 56A00-1 Recessed Door/Window Transmitter — a supervised wireless contact designed to be concealed within a door or window frame for a virtually invisible installation.

Overview

The 56A00-1 works with the HAI 45A00-1 Wireless Receiver and is supplied with a replaceable lithium battery rated for 5 years under normal operation. Because it's recessed into the frame itself, there's no visible sensor or wiring — the transmitter and matching magnet are drilled directly into the door/window frame.

Opening the Unit

Use a flathead screwdriver to open the 56A00-1 to change tops or access the battery.

Installing the Battery

• Use only Panasonic Lithium CR2 batteries for replacement
• Use care to observe correct polarity when inserting the battery
• Use a flathead screwdriver to open the top
• Warning: Battery may explode if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, or dispose of in fire.

Mounting the Transmitter and Magnet

Careful placement is important — the transmitter has two interchangeable tops (flush mount or flanged/screw mount) in case a hole is drilled slightly oversized or extra support is needed. The magnet does not have a flanged option, so its hole must be drilled for a tight, snug fit.

1. Install the CR2 battery first, if not already done
2. Write down the serial number printed on the outside of the case (or on the internal board near the battery) — you'll need this when enrolling
3. Select a location on the door or window frame for the transmitter and magnet. Use a marker or clay to mark and confirm the two holes to be drilled line up directly across from each other
4. Using an 11/16" drill bit, slowly drill the first hole for the magnet — the transmitter is designed slightly larger than 11/16", so carefully route the hole little by little for a snug fit
5. Drill the mating hole for the transmitter. Use either the standard flush mount cap (snug-fit insert) or the flanged cap with the included screws

Tip: If you accidentally drill the magnet-side hole too big and it becomes loose, you can instead mount the transmitter in that position and use the flanged cap to screw it securely into place.

Enrolling the 56A00-1

1. Put the 45A00-1 Wireless Receiver into Setup mode and advance to an unused address location
2. Activate the reed switch by removing the magnet from the transmitter for 1 second, then replacing it
3. Refer to the 45A00-1 Installation Instructions for further receiver-side setup details
