Installation instructions for the GE Simon XT Talking Touchpad, model 60-924-3-XT — a wall-mounted, two-way talking keypad/touchpad accessory for the GE Simon XT security system.
The 60-924-3-XT combines a conventional learn-mode touchpad with an RF receiver, speech chip, and voice amplification circuit for the Simon XT panel. It's battery-powered (alkaline) and is programmed into the panel as a sensor.
The touchpad has no tamper detection; a low battery condition is automatically detected and communicated to the control panel.
The touchpad is sensitive to its orientation relative to the control panel — always test before mounting.
To verify communication after installation, close the panel cover to run mode, then press the System Status button on the touchpad — it should announce the correct system status.
When batteries are low, the touchpad announces "touchpad low battery" and the panel announces "(sensor name) low battery." Replace all three batteries with AAA alkaline batteries — avoid pressing buttons while replacing. Run a sensor test afterward to realign the touchpad to the panel.
