    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and configuration guide for the GoControl WT00Z5-1 — a Z-Wave Plus 3-Way Wall Mount Accessory Dimmer Switch (Series 500), NWI/scene capable, 120 VAC.

    Overview

The WT00Z5-1 Wall Mount Accessory Dimmer Switch allows remote ON/OFF control and dimming of lights controlled by associated Z-Wave modules, creating virtual 3-way switches. The WT00Z5-1 controls no load directly, so it can be wired anywhere power is available — no traveler wire needed. It's part of the GoControl™ family of Z-Wave certified wireless lighting products (smart LED fixtures, bulbs, switches, dimmers, outlets, and plug-in modules), control products (thermostats, irrigation and garage door controllers), and sensors.

    Safety Warnings

    • DANGER! SHOCK HAZARD. Read and understand these instructions before installing.
    • Install in accordance with the National Electric Code and local regulations (US), or the Canadian Electrical Code and local regulations (Canada).
    • A qualified electrician should perform this installation. For indoor use only.
    • CAUTION! Do not wire unit "live" (with power on the circuit).
    • This unit must be added to the network only where it will be permanently installed — its mesh-network operation depends on knowing its location relative to other nodes. You cannot "test bench" configure it and then relocate/install elsewhere.

    Installation

Wire this switch in place of a current wall switch (Neutral = white, Line = black, Green = ground). Adding to a network:

    1. With your Controller in Discovery/Add Mode, tap the switch. The LED will blink slowly when in ADD Mode.
    2. Your Controller should indicate the "device was added" to the network, and the LED will stop blinking.
    3. The device will appear in the list of switches. If the addition fails, repeat steps 1–3.

Note: If you have trouble adding it to a group, it may need to be "RESET UNIT" first to clear the Home ID and Node ID from prior testing.

    Basic Operation

    • Switches: Tap top of switch to turn Associated devices ON; tap bottom to turn OFF.
    • Dimmers: Press & hold the top to increase intensity; press & hold the bottom to decrease intensity. Tapping top turns the device ON to the previously set level; tapping bottom turns it OFF.
    • LED Indication (Night Light mode, default): LED turns ON when the Associated device is OFF, and turns OFF when it's ON — this can be reconfigured (see Configuration).
    • Remote Control: Responds to BASIC and BINARY Z-Wave commands.

Resetting to Defaults / Removing from Network

    1. Tap the top of the switch five (5) times.
    2. Press and hold the bottom of the switch for 15 seconds. The LED will blink increasingly fast to indicate a reset is taking place.

To remove via the Controller/Gateway: set the Controller to Removal Mode, then tap the paddle 2 times — the LED blinks slowly for 10 seconds to confirm removal.

    Associations

The WT00Z5-1 supports three (3) Association Groups:

    • Group 1 (Lifeline): Single Node ID — the Z-Wave Controller that receives unsolicited notifications. Set automatically after inclusion.
    • Group 2: Up to 5 Node IDs — sent BASIC On/Off commands (for switches like the GoControl WS15Z5).
    • Group 3: Up to 5 Node IDs — sent Multilevel Switch commands (for dimmers like the GoControl WD500Z5).

Creating Associations: (1) Learn all devices into the Z-Wave Hub. (2) Tap the paddle 4 times quickly to enter Association mode (LED blinks twice/second). (3) Follow the inclusion/exclusion steps for the device to be associated (for GoControl devices, tap the button twice). (4) Repeat for up to 5 total dimmers/switches within 60 seconds. (5) Association mode ends after 60 seconds or once a node is associated.

    Configuration Parameters

    Parameter Length Values Description
3 (Night Light LED behavior) 1 Byte 0–4 0 = LED off when load is on, on when off (default). 1 = LED on when load is on, off when off. 2 = LED always on. 3 = LED always off. 4 = LED blinks during RF transmissions.
4 (Invert Switch) 1 Byte 0–1 0 = top of switch ON, bottom OFF (default). 1 = bottom ON, top OFF.
5 (Dim start level) 0 = send start level Controls whether the Dim command sends the start level embedded, or the Associated device starts dimming from its current level (default).

Reset any parameter to default via the Configuration Set command's default bit. A Quadruple tap enables Over-the-Air (OTA) firmware update mode for 60 seconds.
