Global Caché iTach WiFi — Quick Start Guide

Quick Start Guide for the Global Caché iTach WiFi — a wireless IR/serial control interface for integrating AV and home automation equipment onto a Wi-Fi network.

Getting Started

Initially, the iTach WiFi operates as an unsecured ad-hoc device discoverable by any wireless Windows laptop. After applying power, view the available wireless networks and select iTachMACID, where MACID is the device's MAC address printed on the bottom label (e.g., a MAC ID of 000C1E01B45C produces the network name iTach000C1E01B45C).

Once connected, open a browser and enter http://169.254.1.70, then select the iTach Network page (if prompted for a password, select OK). Change the Network Type to Infrastructure and enter the SSID, Security Type, and Passphrase to match your router settings — the router and iTach entries must be identical. Enable DHCP if you're not using a static IP, then select Apply to permanently store the settings.

The iTach requires 30 seconds to reconnect to a network whenever a new security setting is entered. The power LED blinks once per second once connected to the infrastructure network.

Finding the iTach's IP Address

Download the Global Caché iHelp application from www.globalcache.com/downloads and run it on a Windows PC connected to the same network. iHelp listens for iTach multicast beacons and displays every iTach's MAC ID and IP address within one minute.

Troubleshooting / Factory Reset

The setup process can be restarted at any time by resetting the iTach to factory defaults. Insert a metal pin (a large paper clip works well) into the reset opening approximately 1/8 inch (3mm) until the reset sequence begins — indicated by the front LEDs blinking during initialization.

Use a light touch when resetting — force may damage the IR learner. Do not force the metal pin into the opening.
