  • ELK-P624 Power Supply & Battery Charger — Instructions

    August 31, 2026 2 min read

Wiring and configuration instructions for the ELK-P624 selectable 6/12/24 Volt DC power supply and battery charger with fuseless overload protection.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Instructions and application notes for the ELK-P624 Power Supply and Battery Charger — a general-purpose, fuseless power supply with automatic overload protection and selectable 6, 12, or 24 Volt DC output.

    Overview

The ELK-P624 is a trouble-free power supply/charger featuring automatic reset "fuseless" overload protection, which eliminates service calls to replace blown fuses. Output voltage is easily selected using mini-jumpers (JP1/JP2).

    Features

    • Auto-resetting overload protection
    • Visual AC and DC power indicator LEDs
    • Selectable 6, 12, or 24Vdc regulated output
    • AC and DC surge suppression
    • Built-in battery charging circuit
    • Lifetime limited warranty (call for details)

    Specifications

    Spec Value

** Higher output current (up to 2.5 Amps) may be drawn briefly, provided a fully charged battery is connected.

Setting the Output Voltage (Mini-Jumpers JP1/JP2)

    6 Volt Mode

Remove the small black mini-jumper from both header pins JP1 and JP2. Connect a 12Vac, 40VA transformer to the AC TRANSFORMER terminals, and connect a 6V battery to the red (+) and black (−) battery wires. The mini-jumper can be stored on a single header pin for later use. Maximum continuous current: 1.2A.

    12 Volt Mode

Place the mini-jumper on header pin JP1 only (JP2 must be vacant). Connect a 16.5Vac, 40VA transformer to the AC TRANSFORMER terminals, and connect a 12V battery to the red (+) and black (−) battery wires. Maximum continuous current: 1.0A.

    24 Volt Mode

Place the mini-jumper on header pin JP2. Connect a 24Vac, 40VA transformer to the AC TRANSFORMER terminals, and connect a 24V battery to the red (+) and black (−) battery wires. Maximum continuous current: 800mA.

    Wiring & Connections

    • AC Transformer Input Terminals: connect the transformer matched to your desired output voltage (see modes above) — important to match correctly.
    • DC Output Terminals: connect the device(s) to be powered — observe +/− polarity.
    • Battery Wires: connect to a rechargeable lead-acid battery, 1.2Ah up to 10Ah (red = "+", black = "−").
    • Auto-Reset (Fuseless) Overload Protector: 2.5 Amp, automatically resets when a short or overload is removed.

Caution: The heatsink may be hot during normal operation.

    LED Status Indicators

    AC (Green) DC (Red) Indication
ON ON Normal — AC input on, DC output on.
OFF ON AC input off, DC output running from battery only. Transformer defective/unplugged, or outlet is off. Battery will eventually discharge.
ON OFF AC input on, DC output off. The auto-reset overload protector is likely open due to an overload/short circuit — try reducing device load.
OFF OFF AC input off, DC output off.
