Installation manual for the ELK-M1XRF319 Wireless Receiver and Input Expander β adds up to 144 wireless transmitters (zones/sensors) operating on the 319.5MHz frequency and adhering to the Interlogix protocol to an ELK M1 Control.
The ELK-M1XRF319 allows wireless transmitters operating on the 319.5MHz frequency (and adhering to the Interlogix protocol) to work with ELK-M1 Controls. The receiver connects to the M1's RS-485 4-wire data bus and integrates much like a hardwired zone expander. It can be installed remotely from the control anywhere inside the premises, up to the maximum allowed distance of the data bus. One receiver can cover an average-size home and up to 144 wireless transmitters. All transmitter programming and enrollment data is stored in the M1 Control, not in the receiver β so up to 9 total receivers can be connected for extremely large coverage areas without needing to relearn transmitters.
Important: Elk offers two other Wireless Receiver models for the M1 Control, each on a different frequency. The frequency and protocol of each transmitter must be matched with a receiver compatible with that same frequency/protocol. Mixed receivers/transmitters are possible on the same installation as long as each transmitter is within range of the receiver matching its frequency/protocol.

The Data Bus Address is set via Address Programming mode using the Forward and Backward pushbuttons, displayed in binary on the ADDRESS LEDs (values 8, 4, 2, 1 β add together the lit LEDs). Factory default address is 3.
Wireless Receivers and Hardwired Expanders (M1XIN) share the same bus and device type, so conflicts are possible. Key rules:
Full data bus address / zone number tables (Appendix A) and example zone configurations (Appendix B, covering all-hardwired, mixed hardwired+wireless, and redundant-receiver setups) are in the full PDF for detailed planning of larger installations.
After setting the address and powering up the receiver, it must be manually enrolled with the M1 Control via keypad "Menu 1 β Bus Module Enrollment" or ElkRP Remote Programming Software. From an M1 LCD Keypad:
When the Wireless Receiver detects a sensor transmission, it's passed to the M1 Control for processing. The M1 quickly scans a filter of valid enrolled sensors; if an additional receiver picks up the same transmission, the M1 disregards the duplicate.

Wireless transmitters send multiple repeated data packets to compensate for interference or weak signal. During keypad Walk Test mode, the M1 announces the received packet count via Voice Output (e.g. "Sensor X, Level 8" for the strongest signal β all 8 of 8 packets received). Elk recommends a minimum acceptable level of 3 or 4, since the receiver requires at least 2 repeated packets to qualify a valid transmission. If an announced level seems unusually high, retest β packets could be arriving from multiple sensors transmitting around the same time.
The manual includes detailed compatibility tables for Elk-brand 319.5MHz transmitters (ELK-319DWM Door/Window Mini, ELK-319DG All Weather Door & Gate, ELK-319DR Recessed Door, ELK-319WS Window Reed & Shock Combo, ELK-319KF4 Four Button Keyfob, ELK-319KF1/PB1 Panic Buttons, ELK-319HRR Heat Rate of Rise Detector, ELK-319PIRC Ceiling Mount PIR, plus upcoming Smoke/CO/Wall PIR/Glassbreak/Water Flood detectors), Interlogix brand compatible transmitters, and Resolution brand compatible transmitters β each with specific enrollment process, Option 1/2 settings, and Loop # settings. Elk does not guarantee compatibility for any model not explicitly listed, since manufacturers may discontinue or alter models.
Press ELK then 9 for Installer Level Programming, enter the Installer Program Code (default 172839), then navigate to "Wireless Setup β Menu 14." Four submenus:
Once the first Wireless Receiver is installed and operational, additional receivers can be added for redundancy or improved coverage/range. Each additional receiver needs its own unique data bus address (any unused address from 2β10; addresses 11β16 cannot be used) and must be separately enrolled for proper supervision. Loss of any enrolled bus device triggers a Missing Bus Device Trouble. Up to 9 total wireless receivers can be installed on a single M1 Control, provided none of those addresses are used by a Hardwired Expander. Note: a redundant receiver does not increase the number of wireless zones β it only increases range/coverage.
