Installation instructions for the ELK-AEKP Low Profile LCD Keypad for the E27 Alarm Engine, including wiring and optional proximity reader setup.
Installation instructions for the ELK-AEKP Low Profile LCD Keypad — a 32-character blue/white backlit keypad for the Elk E27 Alarm Engine, supporting proximity card readers for arming, disarming, or door strike control.
The ELK-AEKP surface-mounts with or without a 1- or 2-gang electrical box, and can be flush-mounted using the separately purchased ELK-M1BBK2 back box kit. It accepts the Elk-106055 external proximity reader (26-bit Wiegand) — other brands of 26-bit readers may also be compatible.
Before making any wiring connections, turn the E27 Master Power Switch OFF.
| Keypad Cable Wire | Function |
|---|---|
| Black | Negative |
| White | Data Bus B |
| Green | Data Bus A |
| Red | +12VDC |
| Blue | Optional Zone (Input) |
| Brown | Optional Programmable Output |
Splice the data bus cable to the keypad assembly using ELK-9002 "B" Connectors. An optional zone input (e.g. for an LED or relay, 50mA max) connects between the Blue and Black wires; an optional programmable output connects between the Brown and Black wires.
An ELK-106055 external prox reader can connect via an ELK-W039A 2-wire cable assembly (purchased separately): splice the reader's Green (Data 0) and White (Data 1) wires as indicated, and plug the cable into connector J2. Some other brands of 26-bit Wiegand-compatible readers may also work.
Please refer to the ElkConnect app instructions for details on enrolling the AEKP into the E27 system.
The ELK-AEKP LCD Keypad is warranted free from defects in material and workmanship for 2 years from the date of manufacture. Elk makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding batteries used with wireless devices. See Elk's website for the full warranty statement.
