Code Compliance

SDC 423M and 413MN exit switches, used together with the MD31D PIR sensor, comply with manual releasing device and sensor device requirements for Access-Controlled Egress Doors per NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 7.2.1.6.2 and the California Building Code.

410 & 420 Series Push Switches

Illuminated 2" square (1 Gang) or 1¾"×1" (Narrow) button, high-impact stainless steel. "PUSH TO EXIT" sign complies with NFPA requirements. The 422A variant is designed for disabled access/egress applications.

Specifications: Contact 5 Amp @ 30VDC (Timer version 2 Amp @ 12/24VDC); wire leads 6", 20 gauge; 1 Gang 2⅞"×4½"×20 Ga.; Narrow 1¾"×4½"×20 Ga.

Options: L1G/L1R single-color LED, L2 dual LED, LT tri-color LED (Red/Green/Amber), R = red button in lieu of green.

Finishes: Standard is stainless steel (suffix "U"). Special finishes: C = 605 Bright Brass, D = 606 Dull Brass, H = 613 Oil Rubbed Bronze, P = 625 Bright Chrome.

MD31D PIR Egress Sensor

The MD31D request-to-exit sensor unlocks doors automatically when persons approaching the door are detected. Complies with the national fire/building code requirements for Access-Controlled Egress Doors listed above. Code-compliant failsafe mode releases locks when power to the sensor is interrupted. UL listed 294.

430 Series Mushroom Exit Switch & 440 Heavy Duty Series

430 Series: 1½" round mushroom button with heavy-duty contacts, capable of withstanding high impact — ideal for high-frequency use. 440 Heavy Duty Series: 2⅝" diameter mushroom button, heavy-duty water-resistant contacts and a steel bezel guard, for egress/REX and Emergency/Panic Alarm applications.

432KUR latches when depressed and must be reset with a built-in key — designed for alarm/panic/emergency door release restored only by authorized personnel. Contact rating: 6 Amp @ 30VDC on both series.

450 & 460 Vandal-Resistant Series

450 Series: ¼" thick aluminum faceplate, all-stainless-steel button, resists hammer-blow impact; security spanner mounting screws concealed by tamper-resistant plugs. Pneumatic Time Delay option (453PTD) provides 1-180 second delayed re-locking.

460 Series: heavy-duty, vandal-resistant piezoelectric button with no moving parts, billion-cycle button technology, bi-color (red/green) status indicator, adjustable 1-40 sec integrated timer — suited to harsh indoor/outdoor and high-traffic environments.

• 460U/460NU specs: 12/24VDC input; Idle 10-60mA, Active 60-120mA current; outputs 1 N.O./1 N.C. @ 2 Amp, 30VDC; relay life 100,000 cycles @ 2A / 200,000 cycles @ 1A; operating temp -40°F to +160°F.

Communicating Bathroom System Controls

For a shared bathroom serving two patient/dormitory rooms, ensures both doors lock only when occupied.

• CB401A/CB401B (with EMLocks): Interior push locks both doors for privacy; exterior emergency release unlocks both. Requires 2 EMLocks (1581VD 650lb or 1571VD 1200lb holding force) and a 631RF-CR power supply.
• CB402A/CB402B (with Electrified Locksets): Interior push locks doors on the outside only — inside always unlocked for uninhibited egress; exiting either door unlocks both. Requires 2 electrified locksets (Z7250 cylindrical or Z7850-R mortise with REX output), a PTH-4Q 4-wire power transfer hinge, and a 631RF-LR power supply.

Emergency Release Stations

491 Break Glass Emergency Door Release: Immediate unlocking of fail-safe electric locks on perimeter/interior doors; built-in siren can double as a local door annunciator. DPDT contact, 10 Amp @ 30VAC/DC; siren draws 20mA @ 12/24VAC/DC. Replacement glass rods (491-GL4) and surface mount back box (491-BB) available.

492 Emergency Pull Station: Same function via pull-station activation with built-in alarm, 3V-28VDC @ 18mA. Replacement glass rods (492-GL4) and blue surface mount back box (492-BB) available.

10TD Mini Timer Module

Delays relocking of an access-controlled door to give ample time for entry/egress. Compatible with all SDC momentary key/exit switches with a momentary N.O. contact. Fits inside a two-gang key/exit switch assembly or installs separately in a narrow frame/junction box.
