User manual for the ELK-319PIRC Wireless Ceiling-Mount PIR Motion Sensor — a supervised, 360° passive-infrared sensor built specifically for ceiling installations on Elk 319MHz-compatible receivers/panels.

    Description

The ELK-319PIRC is a supervised, wireless 360° PIR motion sensor designed for ceiling mount applications. When motion is detected, it transmits a violation (trip) signal to the panel, along with tamper, hourly supervisory, and low-battery signals as needed. Powered by two replaceable 3VDC lithium batteries. Compatible with Elk's 319MHz receivers/panels and other panels operating on 319.5MHz that adhere to the ITI/Interlogix protocol.

    Coverage Pattern by Mounting Height

    Mounting Height Detection Diameter

    10 ft 25 ft
    12 ft (max.) 40 ft

    Installation Guidelines

    • Ceiling mount only, providing a 360° field of view — do not install on a sloped ceiling/surface.
    • Maximum mounting height is 12 ft; do not mount outdoors.
    • Avoid areas with pets, near ceiling fans/heating ducts, or on metal surfaces (reduces range).
    • Avoid direct sunlight/window exposure.
    • Install within 100 ft. of the receiver/panel; mounting surface must be solid, free of vibration.

    Mounting Steps

    1. Twist sensor counter-clockwise to remove from mounting base.
    2. Attach base to ceiling with the supplied screws and anchors.
    3. Twist sensor onto base, taking care not to bend the tamper plunger spring.

    Sensitivity & LED Jumper Settings

    • Lo sensitivity — 3-event: jumper on top two pins.
    • Hi sensitivity — 2-event: jumper on bottom two pins.
    • LED walk-test: jumper installed across LED pins for visual walk test.

    Programming (Enrollment)

    1. Place the panel into Program mode and go to the Wireless Setup menu.
    2. Select the appropriate zone/sensor location number.
    3. When prompted to trip the sensor: separate the sensor from its mounting base, remove battery pull tabs (if present) to power it, and the panel should acknowledge enrollment via keypad display or audio alert. If it fails, remove/reinstall the battery or press the tamper plunger and retry.
    4. Repeat for additional sensors, then assign each sensor's zone definition. Important: set the Zone Loop to "1" for this sensor.
    5. Exit Program mode when finished.

    Operation and Walk Testing

To conserve battery life, the sensor has a 3-minute sleep-mode lockout between motion detections. For walk testing, remove the sensor from its base and trip the tamper switch — it will then detect and transmit on every motion detect. Enable the visual LED by placing a jumper across the LED pins during testing; walk-test mode auto-ends after 1 minute of no motion. Remove the LED jumper afterward to prolong battery life.

    Battery Replacement

    • Twist sensor counter-clockwise to remove from base.
    • Remove both batteries, insert two new Panasonic CR123 3V lithium batteries observing (+) polarity.
    • Replace sensor onto the base.
    • Caution: batteries may explode if mistreated — do not recharge, disassemble, incinerate, or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Dispose of properly per local hazardous waste laws.

    FCC / IC Compliance

Complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules (Class B) and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standards. Minimum separation distance of 20cm from the general population required. FCC ID: 2ABBZ-RF-CPIR. IC: 11817A-RFCPIR.

    Limited Warranty

Warranted free from defects and workmanship for 2 years from date of manufacture, excluding batteries (batteries used with wireless devices are not warranted).
