Installation instructions for the DataComm Electronics 50-3338-WH-KIT Easy Mount Cable Organizer Kit — a pair of recessed low-voltage cable plates for routing A/V cables behind a flat panel TV, amplifier, or other audio/video device.

    Overview

These recessed cable plates are designed for use with low voltage / data cables only — not for TV power cords or electrical extension cords, which the National Electrical Code (NEC) does not allow to be run inside the drywall.

    Parts Included

    • Two (2) Easy Mount Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plates

    Tools Needed

    • Drywall saw
    • 6 ft. tape measure
    • Pencil
    • Screwdriver

    Installation Steps

    1. Determine the location of your flat panel TV, amplifier, or A/V device.
    2. Use the enclosed template to cut a hole in the drywall, allowing for the location of the stud.
    3. Pull your A/V cables through the wall and through the opening in the Easy Mount Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate. If cables are too large to fit through easily, the removable back scoop on the wall plate can be taken off to widen the opening.
    4. Insert the Easy Mount Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate flush into the wall. The plate can be installed upright or upside down — the low-voltage mounting brackets are molded to the back of the plate.
    5. Screw down the wall plate screws with wings — they fasten tightly against the back of the drywall to complete the installation.

    Important Safety Notes

    • Do not run or pull the TV power cord or other electrical cords inside the drywall — the NEC does not allow installation of the TV power cord or an extension cord behind the wall.
    • Never install low-voltage wiring during lightning storms.
    • Never install low-voltage wiring in wet locations unless the wire is specifically rated for wet locations.
    • Never touch un-insulated low-voltage wires or terminals unless the wire has been disconnected at its source.
    • Use caution when installing low-voltage cables.
    • Do not use this product near water (bath tub, sink, wet basement, swimming pool, etc.).
    • Save these instructions.
