    Installation instructions for the ELK-319DWM Wireless Door/Window Mini Sensor — a supervised wireless sensor with tamper, hourly supervisory, and low battery reporting, compatible with Elk's 319MHz receivers/panels and other ITI/Interlogix-protocol panels operating at 319.5MHz.

    Description

    The ELK-319DWM is a supervised, wireless door sensor that detects the opening and closing of doors or windows. The small, low-profile sensor and magnet mount using screws or double-sided adhesive tape (both included). As the door opens or closes, the sensor transmits an open (trip) or close (restore) signal to the panel, plus tamper, hourly supervisory, and low-battery signals as needed. It's powered by two replaceable 3VDC lithium coin-cell batteries.

    Installation Guidelines and Mounting

    • Temporarily attach and test the sensor with the panel/receiver before drilling any holes or permanently mounting.
    • Mounting on metal can negatively affect transmitting range and magnet gap performance.
    • Install the sensor within 100 ft. of the receiver or panel.
    • Mount the sensor on the non-moving frame surface and the magnet on the moving door. For a double-acting door, mount the sensor on the least-used gate/door.
    • Mount sensors at least 5 inches above the floor to avoid damage.
    • Sensor can be attached to wood, vinyl, and some metallic surfaces if pre-installation tests are positive.
    • Align the magnet across from the top right edge of the sensor with a gap of no more than 5/16" (8mm) for wood surfaces, or 1/4" (6mm) for non-wood surfaces.
    • Depending on mounting material and direction, the operating gap will vary between 1/8" (3mm) and 1¾" (44mm) — check desired operation before permanent installation.
    • After mounting, retest the sensor.

    Programming (Enrollment)

    1. Place the panel into Program mode.
    2. Proceed to the WIRELESS SETUP menu.
    3. Select the appropriate zone/sensor location number.
    4. When prompted by the panel to trip the sensor for learning: remove the sensor cover, then (if present) pull the battery pull tab out to power the sensor. The panel should acknowledge the sensor via keypad display and/or audio alert. If enrollment fails, repeat the process, removing and reinstalling the battery, or press and release the tamper plunger.
    5. Repeat for any additional wireless sensors, then proceed to zone programming to assign each sensor's zone definition.
    6. Exit programming mode when finished.

    Additional Tamper Security

    Punch out the tamper cover on the bottom of the sensor and secure it to the mounting location with the small screw provided. When the sensor is removed ("tampered"), the tab remains, providing a tamper condition.

    Testing the Sensor

    1. Place the panel into Walk Test mode.
    2. Monitor the keypad display as each sensor is tripped (some panels show signal strength).
    3. Exit Walk Test mode when finished.

    Battery Replacement

    A low battery trouble condition will be transmitted when the sensor battery needs replacing. Replace both batteries within 7 days of a low battery indication.

    • Remove the cover from the sensor and carefully slide out the old batteries.
    • Insert two new CR2032 batteries into the battery holder slots, observing polarity. Use only approved 3.0VDC lithium batteries: Panasonic or Varta model CR2032.
    • Replace the cover and test-activate the device at least five times.

    Battery Warning: Risk of fire, explosion, and burns. Do not attempt to recharge or disassemble. Do not incinerate or expose to heat above 212°F (100°C). Dispose of used batteries properly. Keep away from children.
