Installation instructions for the DataComm Connected Media Box (part numbers 45-8017-1, 45-8011-1P, 45-8021-1S, 45-8031-1C), an in-wall enclosure for TV power sources and AV wiring.
Instruction and installation sheet for the DataComm Electronics Connected Media Box — a low-voltage in-wall enclosure for mounting TV power sources, phone/video modules, and cable pass-throughs. Part numbers: 45-8017-1, 45-8011-1P, 45-8021-1S, and 45-8031-1C.
The Connected Media Box fills an entire stud bay horizontally. Make sure the box will fit either below the TV mount or to the side, and still be covered by the TV. The trim ring's outside dimensions are 17.50" W × 18" H. Locate the panel close to a 110VAC source for amplifier or security panel power requirements — there's an outlet knockout in the bottom of the panel for installing a UL and/or ETL approved outlet or J-Box.
Note: Have a licensed electrician install the outlet to meet current code requirements. There is no fire rating on this panel, so it should not be installed in fire-rated walls.
Install appropriate cables from each location, leaving enough overage on each end for easy installation, and mark all cable ends with necessary information. Each cable run should comply with all applicable codes; follow good wiring practices throughout. Secure the mounting brackets to the back of the enclosure using the included six (6) bracket mounting screws. If access to the USB ports on the TV power supply is needed, remove the large knock-out above or below the mounting brackets.
If the TV will not be installed flush against the wall, complete the installation by placing the trim ring onto the Connected Media Box, aligning the grooves on the sides with the slots on the box, then securing it with the included four (4) screws. Use caution not to over-tighten — this may deform the trim ring. If the TV will be mounted directly against the wall, do not install the trim ring.
Note: The Connected Media Box is a distribution panel for low voltage wiring systems only — it is not designed for use as an AC power distribution panel. Use only Class 2 powered or passive devices.
ETL Listed. Conforms to UL STD 2416, ANSI/UL STD 60950-1. Certified to CAN/CSA STD C22.2 No. 60950-1.
