DataComm 70-0025 — Phone/Video Module Installation Guide

Installation instructions for the DataComm Electronics Phone/Video Module 70-0025 — a combination 1x8 video splitter and 4x16 RJ45 phone module for structured wiring enclosures.

Overview

The 70-0025 module combines a 1x8 coaxial video splitter with a 4x16 RJ45 telephone distribution module (using the companion 70-0026 RJ45 telephone module), letting a single panel handle both CATV/satellite distribution and 4-line phone service in one HCC (Home Control Center) enclosure.

Step 1 — Video Installation

1. Attach a female F-connector onto the incoming cable TV or satellite service line.
2. Screw the incoming cable with F-connector onto the connector marked "INPUT."
3. Using F-connectors, terminate all coaxial leads pulled through the top knockout of the enclosure onto the 1x8 video splitter.
4. Align the four mounting pins with the holes in the back of the panel (uppermost position recommended) and snap into place.

Step 2 — Telephone Installation

1. Pull the telephone wires into the HCC panel from the top or one of the side knockouts.
2. Using the black push pins, install the 70-0026 RJ45 telephone module in the HCC panel.
3. Install the cable from the telephone company demarcation point to the 110 IDC block marked "From Telco" — this activates lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the RJ45 ports.
4. Punch down the wires to the 110 IDC connectors using an industry-standard punch-down tool, following the T568A wiring configuration.
5. Line color coding: Line 1 = Blue, Line 2 = Orange, Line 3 = Green, Line 4 = Brown.
6. An RJ31X port is provided for Line 1 seizure by a security system.

Step 3 — Connecting Home Runs

1. Install RJ45 plugs (purchased separately — DCE part #20-5703) on all Cat 5e wiring home runs to the HCC panel, wired per standard RJ45 plug instructions. Mis-wired plugs will create a short or no dial tone.
2. Determine which telephone jacks in the house will carry each line. Insert the RJ45 plug of the Cat 5e home run into the RJ45 port labeled for the desired line (1, 2, 3, or 4) on the telephone module — each home run plugged into a given line's port is now connected to that line.

Safety Warnings

• Never install telephone wiring during lightning storms.
• Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet-location use.
• Never touch un-insulated wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
• Do not use this product near water — bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, wet basement, or swimming pool.
• Read and understand all instructions; follow all warnings marked on the product. Save these instructions.
• Only licensed professionals should install this product.
