Channel Vision IPCamera Recorder — Software User Manual

User manual for the Channel Vision IPCamera Recorder software — a Windows-based video recording and management application supporting IP cameras, video servers, and DVRs, available in 1, 4, 9, 16, and 36-channel configurations.

Overview

IPCamera Recorder is video recording software that supports IP cameras, video servers, and digital video recorders. It monitors real-time video, records to a PC, and plays back recordings on demand. The software supports 5 recording modes — normal, schedule, motion-triggered, alarm-triggered, and manual — along with built-in E-Map and multi-monitor functions. When the web server function is activated, IPCamera Recorder also provides remote access via web browser or the companion RemoteLite program.

System Requirements

Program Install / Uninstall

Run the installer, select a language (Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, Polish, Japanese, or German), accept the license agreement, choose the install directory (default: C:\Program Files\IPCamera Recorder), and click Install. In Windows Vista, right-click the shortcut and select "Run as administrator" to launch the program. To uninstall, use Start → Program → IPCamera Recorder → Uninstall.

Setting Up IP Cameras / Video Servers / DVRs

There are two ways to add front-end devices:

1. Configure Tool: Integrates "IPInstaller" — automatically scans for IP cameras and video servers on the network (click "Scan IP" to re-search). Drag-and-drop the discovered device onto a video channel, enter the username/password, then click Save.
2. Administration Page: Enter the IP camera/video server setup page directly. Channels can be configured as Normal (standard camera-linked channel) or Attached (a channel not physically linked to a camera, used with the digital zoom function to display a cropped portion of a main channel's image — attached channels cost no extra bandwidth or HDD space).

Per-channel settings include: Channel Tag (name), IP address, port, ID/password, image resolution/quality/video format/frame rate, pre/post alarm recording interval, on-screen tag/date/time display, display mode (I-Frame only vs. original size), and audio recording enable.

Setting Up HDD Recording

Before recording, it's best to configure HD space. By default, recordings save to the software's install folder under a "Record" directory with no storage limit. Additional recording paths can be added via the disk setup page in the administration page.

Live Video Monitoring

The live view screen supports single or multi-channel viewing (1, 4, 9, 16, or 36 channels depending on the version). Additional controls available per channel include PTZ control (Focus, Zoom, Iris, Auto/Stop Patrol, Preset Point), DVR control panel (split screen, playback), digital zoom panel, I/O switch (up to 4 I/O controls), two-way audio (chat) toggle, and broadcast toggle — availability depends on whether the connected device supports each feature.

Video Playback

1. Use the calendar to select a date with recorded data (marked days have recordings), then select the channel to play.
2. The recording status timeline is color-coded: No color = no data, Red = normal recording, Yellow = motion-triggered, Blue = alarm-triggered, Gray = currently selected playback time.
3. Playback controls include play/pause, variable speed (1x–32x depending on hardware/channel count), and previous/next frame stepping.
4. Options: "Asynchronize Play" (different time/channel playback per pane), "Show Tag"/"Show Time" (overlay title and time), "Disable Digital Zoom" (view original image size), and "Event List" (view event records).

Export Video

• JPEG export: Saves as channel number_yyyymmdd_hhmmss.jpg.
• AVI export: Select start time, end time, video channel, and destination directory. Check "Including Sound" to record audio. If multiple channels are selected, a separate AVI file is exported per channel.

Digital Zoom

Zoom in/out on the live or recorded image (100% to 1000% range) via a vertical zoom control bar. Available in live-viewing, playback, second live-viewing, and remote program modes. The digital zoom panel has three parts: a preview window (non-live, periodically refreshed thumbnail with a red frame indicating the live-viewing area and zoom rate shown at the lower-left), the zooming bar itself, and a zoom status toggle. Digital zoom is enabled by default; it can be disabled per-channel in channel setup.

E-Map

• Map: Camera and alarm icons blink when motion or a sensor is triggered. Double-click an icon to view its live video.
• Tree View: Lists all cameras on the right side of the E-Map page — double-click any camera to view its live video.
• Event Record: Lists all motion and alarm events at the bottom of the E-Map page; selecting an event triggers its playback.

Remote Control

Web Server

Enabling the Web Server (via Network settings in the administration page) lets a web browser connect to the recording software to monitor real-time video. Connect by entering the server's IP address into a browser (e.g. http://192.168.1.104/). First-time connections in Internet Explorer require adding the server IP to Trusted Sites and installing an ActiveX control ("RemoteLiteX Control") when prompted; several IE security settings (Initialize/script ActiveX controls, run ActiveX controls) must be set to "Prompt" or "Enable" for the connection to succeed. Once connected, enter the username/password to view live video and adjust image transmission quality. The ActiveX control can later be removed via IE's "Manage Add-ons" (Downloaded ActiveX Controls) or manually from the Windows "Downloaded Program Files" folder on older OS versions.

RemoteLite

RemoteLite is a separate, lightweight live-viewing-only program (no playback, no settings changes) exported from the main IPCamera Recorder application — up to 4 channels can be exported per RemoteLite instance. Export settings include Server IP, Port, User Name, and which channels are visible (unselected channels remain private). RemoteLite supports multi-channel and full-screen viewing, with adjustable transmission speed (Fast/Medium/Slow).

Other Configuration

• Schedule Recording: Assign one of 5 recording modes per time block, per channel — General (red), Motion Detection (yellow), Alarm Detection (blue), Motion + Alarm (green), or No Record (white). A "same for all channels" shortcut is available.
• Motion Detection, PTZ Setup, I/O Setup, Alarm Event Setup: Configured per-channel in the administration page; PTZ, I/O, and two-way features require compatible hardware.
• Password Setup: User accounts, passwords, and group/permission management.
• Configure Tool utility options: Monitor resolution (default On), Window Control (default Off), PC Time sync (default On), Ping function (default Off), Overlay (default On), and backup/restore of configuration files via Export/Import.
