    Full text manual (for reference)

    Overview

Installation instructions for the Chief® Thinstall™ LSTU — a Large Static Universal Mount for flat panel displays. The LSTU fits all VESA hole patterns between 200×200 mm and 800×500 mm and supports display depths up to 5 inches (127 mm).

    Important Warnings

    • Structural strength: the wall structure must support 5 times the combined weight of all mounted equipment; reinforce as needed.
    • Weight limit: combined weight of all components from the LSTU up to and including the display must not exceed 125 lbs (56.7 kg).
    • Displays can weigh over 40 lbs (18.1 kg) — always use two people and proper lifting technique.
    • Improper installation can cause the mount to fall, causing severe injury or equipment damage.

    Wall Plate Installation

    Using Wood Studs

    1. Determine mount location, factoring in display size and safety requirements.
    2. Use a stud finder to locate studs. The wall plate mounts on studs spaced 16", 20", or 24" apart for double-stud mounting; for triple-stud mounting, studs must be 16" apart.
    3. Using the wall plate as a template, mark and drill four (double-stud) or six (triple-stud) 3/16" diameter pilot holes centered in each stud, at least 2-1/4" deep.
    4. Install the connector screws through the wall plate and into the pilot holes using the included M4 Allen head bit.

Into Concrete, Concrete Block, or Brick

    1. Determine mount location.
    2. Using the wall plate as a template, mark and drill six 5/16" diameter pilot holes at least 2-1/4" deep. Use a level to ensure the wall plate is perfectly horizontal.
    3. Install six anchors into the pilot holes, lightly tapping with a hammer.
    4. Install six connector screws through the wall plate holes and into the anchors.

    Display Installation

    1. Lay the display face-down on a level, non-abrasive surface (use a cloth to avoid scratching).
    2. Position the two interface brackets over the mounting holes on the back of the display; the diamond hole in each bracket should sit halfway between the installation holes for proper weight distribution.
    3. Choose the correct screws that fit the display's mounting holes — screws should make at least three full turns; select a longer screw if needed.
    4. Select the correct washers and spacers per the screw size (see table below).
    5. Install four button head cap screws through the required washers, spacers, and interface brackets into the back of the display.
    6. While supporting both sides of the display, lift it up to the wall plate.
    7. Guide the hooks on top of the interface brackets onto the wall plate at the desired mounting location.
    8. Slowly swing the display toward the wall.
    9. Slowly pull the bottom of the display away from the wall until the kickstand fully reaches its down position.
    10. Slowly release the display until the kickstand locks against the bottom of the mount.
    11. Rotate the flags on each interface bracket to the closed position to lock the brackets to the wall plate.

    Cable Management

The LSTU features a kickstand for easy cable access without removing the display from the wall.

    1. Ensure the kickstand is firmly in the down position.
    2. Attach or adjust cables on the back of the display.
    3. To disengage the kickstand, slightly pull the display away from the wall, pull down on the cable management straps to release, then slowly allow the display to return to the wall.

Note: due to the low-profile design of the Thinstall series, displays with cable connections coming straight out of the back may require 90-degree cable connectors. Chief offers in-wall accessories that can help recess cables and connections.
