    Installation instructions for the Chief PWRIW Series in-wall swing arm display mount (PWRIW2000B/PWRIWUB), including PAC501 box mounting, display installation, and tension adjustments.

    Installation instructions for the Chief PWRIW Series large flat panel in-wall swing arm mount (models PWRIW2000B and PWRIWUB), designed to install with a Chief PAC501 in-wall accessory box for a flush, retractable display mounting solution.

    Safety Warnings

    • The structure this mount attaches to must support five times the combined weight of all attached equipment — reinforce the structure as needed before installing.
    • The combined weight of all components attached to this accessory must not exceed 125 lb (56.7 kg).
    • Displays can weigh in excess of 40 lb (18.1 kg) — always use two people and proper lifting technique when installing a display.
    • Improper installation can cause the mount to fall, resulting in severe personal injury or equipment damage. Do not deviate from these instructions or substitute hardware.

    Prerequisites

    This procedure assumes a Chief PAC501 in-wall accessory box has already been installed per its own instructions. If the PAC501 is not installed, or you have questions about it, contact Chief Customer Service before proceeding.

    Mounting the Swing Arm to the PAC501

    The PAC501 accommodates up to 5" of right or left display offset by aligning the swing arm's upper and lower mounting brackets with either the right-hand or left-hand mounting holes in the PAC501.

    1. Align the mounting holes in the swing arm's upper and lower mounting brackets with the four mounting holes in the PAC501.
    2. Secure the swing arm to the PAC501 using four button-head cap screws (C), four lock washers (D), and four flat washers (E).

    Optional Trim Installation

    1. Remove the paper backing and affix three tape squares (F) to the inside lower flange of each trim piece (B).
    2. Orient the trim pieces correctly.
    3. Remove the remaining paper backing and press the trim against the inner wall of the box.

    Display Installation

    • Some displays require an interface bracket for proper mounting — install any listed interface bracket per its own instructions first.
    • Move the mount faceplate to its extended position by grasping it and pulling outward from the wall.
    • With two people supporting the display, align its four mounting buttons (or the interface bracket's buttons) with the four mounting holes in the faceplate.
    • Lower the display into place, listening for an audible "click" confirming the mounting buttons are seated and the lock mechanism has engaged.
    • Make sure all mounting buttons are properly seated in the faceplate holes before releasing the display.

    Security option: holes in the faceplate accept a padlock or similar locking device. The pin and nut can also be moved from the upper holes to the lower holes for a more permanent locking arrangement.

    Cable Management

    1. Attach all cables to the display.
    2. Use cable tie mounts (G) and cable ties (M) to secure cables within the PAC501 as needed — make sure cables never run through pinch points.
    3. Loosen the front and rear cable clamps on the top arm, thread cable ties under the clamps, and re-secure the clamps.
    4. Route power/audio/video cables through the top arm's cable channel, leaving enough slack for left/right movement and arm extension/retraction.
    5. Secure cables to the top arm with two cable ties, and repeat the clamp/tie process for the lower arm.

    Do not route cables through the holes in the faceplate.

    Adjustments

    Pitch Tension

    With the display installed, tighten or loosen the two screws (one on each side) using a 5/32" hex wrench, checking tension after each adjustment, until desired resistance is achieved.

    Roll Adjustment

    The display can be leveled up to 2° right or left. Loosen the roll tension adjustment nut on the back of the faceplate assembly, level the display (loosening the top nut slightly too if needed), then re-tighten the roll tension nut.

    Swing Arm Tension

    Swing arm tension is factory pre-set for displays near the top of the mount's weight capacity. For lighter displays that are hard to reposition, or heavier displays that need more support, adjust tension with the display already mounted: locate the adjustment bar and wrench, place the bar into the socket-head cap screw at the swing arm pivot point, then turn the adjustment bar clockwise to increase tension or counterclockwise to decrease it. Small adjustments (1/8 turn or less) are typically sufficient.
