Reference guide for the Channel Vision C-0437 Telephone Distribution Module — a 4x12 phone distribution module with an alarm-panel service port.
Installation and reference guide for the Channel Vision C-0437 Telephone Distribution Module — a 4x12 phone module that distributes 4 Central Office (CO) telephone lines to 12 wall-jack locations, with a built-in security/alarm service port.
The C-0437 distributes 4 CO lines to 12 locations via vertical RJ-45 jacks for convenient access. It's designed for installations that need telephone service at several locations but have limited space inside the structured wiring enclosure for larger telephone modules.
| Terminal | Function |
|---|---|
| INPUT | Connect up to 4 CO lines in from the telephone company. |
| SERVICE | Access to the Line-1 interrupt circuit. A slide switch engages or bypasses the service port. |
| OUTPUTS 1–12 | Connect to wall outlets/jacks throughout the home. |
When the Service Port is engaged, it interrupts Line-1 so an alarm panel can seize the telephone line to call out during an emergency. The service port is engaged or disengaged by moving the slide switch located to the right of the module. The service port wiring uses Pin 1 (Ring) and Pin 8 (Tip) for the alarm panel connection.
Telephone service comes in from the CO lines to the INPUT terminals (positions 1–4). The module distributes these to OUTPUTS 1–12, which run to wall outlets. An alarm panel can be wired into the SERVICE port to seize Line-1 for emergency dialing.
| Symptom | Cause / Fix |
|---|---|
| CO Lines 2, 3, and 4 pass through fine, but Line 1 does not. | The service port is engaged, but no alarm panel is installed to complete the circuit. Move the slide switch to the opposite position — Line 1 should then function normally. |
| Telephone service is not active at one of the outputs. | Disconnect and reconnect the RJ-45 plug to ensure it's fully seated. Confirm the issue isn't at the wall plate — test by connecting the run to a known-working output. Inspect the RJ-45 connector for irregularities and re-crimp if necessary. |
