  • Channel Vision 3112 CAT5 Audio/Video Interface — Instructions

    September 08, 2026 3 min read

Complete instruction manual for the Channel Vision 3112 CAT5 Audio/Video Interface, which sends audio, video, power, and IR signals over a single CAT5 cable.

    Full text manual (for reference)

The Channel Vision 3112 CAT5 Audio/Video Interface allows audio, video, power, and IR signals to be connected to a single CAT5 cable. It can transform a traditional camera into a CAT5 camera, extract audio and video from the Monitor 2 output of the P-6014 camera sequencer, or provide a simplified connection between CAT5 cable and an IR receiver or emitter.

    Overview

The 3112 is a very flexible device with many applications, ideal for extending audio/video/IR/power signals over a single CAT5 run instead of running separate cables for each signal type.

    Features

    • Adapts any standard camera to CAT5 cable
    • Adapts IR receivers to CAT5 cable
    • Works with the P-6014 CAT5 Camera Sequencer
    • Cost effective and easy to install

    Connections

    • RJ-45: Connect the CAT5 cable here.
    • Audio in/Audio out: Mono audio input or output (depending on the application).
    • IR in/IR out: Connect an IR receiver or IR emitter here (depending on the application).
    • Power in/Power out: DC power input or output (depending on the application).
    • Video in/Video out: Accepts video signals from a camera or outputs video signals to a video monitor (depending on the application).

Included accessory: DC power plug adaptor.

    Complementary Products (Sold Separately)

    • P-6014 — CAT5 Camera Sequencer. A 4-input, 2-output camera sequencer/switcher for Channel Vision's CAT5 security cameras, with automatic or button-triggered sequencing, RS-232 interface, and audio/video loop-out connections.
    • 6210 — Color CAT5 camera with audio, designed to connect directly to the P-6014's camera inputs. Its CAT5 output can also connect to the 3112.
    • Channel Vision Cameras — Any conventional Channel Vision security camera can connect to the 3112, transporting video signal and power over CAT5 cable.
    • IR-2400 — Plasma-proof IR receiver with a status LED for troubleshooting. Includes accessories for surface mount, tabletop, and hole-mounting installations.
    • IR-3001 & IR-3002 — Single- and dual-head IR flashers, one head per source, to control equipment from a remote room.
    • 2129 — RCA-to-BNC adaptor, for adapting BNC video signals (e.g., from cameras) to the RCA video input commonly found on TVs and monitors.

Using the 3112 with the P-6014 Camera Sequencer

The 3112 can adapt conventional cameras (such as the 6125) to CAT5 cable so they can be connected to the P-6014 Camera Sequencer. The 3112 is required when using the Monitor 2 output of the P-6014 — IR signals must be routed through the Monitor 2 output's RJ-45 connection via the 3112. Max. CAT5 length between the 3112 and the camera is 250ft.

Using the 3112 in Standalone Applications

The 3112 can transmit video, audio, and power for a standard security camera or a Channel Vision 6210 CAT5 camera over a single CAT5 cable, in either direction:

    • Connect a standard camera to CAT5: camera → 3112 → up to 250' of CAT5 → 3112 → video in (included).
    • Connect a CAT5 camera (6210) to a standard display: 6210 → up to 250' of CAT5 → 3112 → audio in/video in (included).

Alternative Applications — IR over CAT5

The 3112 can be used to build a simple IR system that works over CAT5 cable:

    • Point-to-Point IR System: IR-2400 receiver → 3112 → up to 250' of CAT5 → 3112 → IR-3001 emitter (not used ports left unused).
    • Whole-House IR System: IR-2400 → 3112 → CAT5 → 3112 → IR-3001, feeding a central controller with multiple input/output zones (only one power supply needed for the whole system).
    • Add model C-0436 to connect up to 8 IR receivers to one emitter output. Note: when used for this purpose, the C-0436 cannot also be used for phone service.
