    August 31, 2026 2 min read

Specification sheet for the AprilAire 8051, 8052, and 8053 remote temperature sensors used with 8570 or 8870 thermostats to monitor or override the thermostat temperature reading.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Specification sheet for the AprilAire 8051, 8052, and 8053 remote temperature sensors, used with 8570 or 8870 thermostats to monitor a remote temperature or override the temperature reading taken at the thermostat.

    Overview

AprilAire sensors offer the ultimate flexibility in remote sensing for the 8570 or 8870 thermostats. The temperature reading from these sensors may be used to monitor a remote temperature or to override the temperature taken at the thermostat.

    Sensor Models

    • 8051 — Flush Mount Sensor: Provides a virtually invisible appearance on the wall. May be painted or wallpapered to match. Ideal for residential or light commercial applications where nothing should be seen on the wall. 1½" diameter disk, friction fit in a 1" opening; requires a 1/64" air gap.
    • 8052 — Outdoor / Duct Sensor: Designed for outdoor or duct installation. The bracket can be removed to allow the probe to be installed in radiant flow applications. Compatible with both residential and light commercial applications. Probe measures 1/4" dia. x 1¾" L; bracket measures ¾" x ¾".
    • 8053 — Surface Mount Sensor: Designed for indoor installation. Perfect for light commercial applications to prevent tampering. Dimensions: 2½" H x 3½" W x 7/8" D.
