Product manual for the ABB-Welcome M2238 series Video Indoor Station 7 (ABM22381x) — a 7" touchscreen indoor intercom station for the ABB-Welcome video door entry system.

Intended Use

This device is a central control panel of the ABB-Welcome system and must only be operated with components from that system, installed in dry indoor rooms.

Safety Warning

Electric voltage danger: Direct or indirect contact with live components can cause electric shock, burns, or death. Disconnect mains power before installation or disassembly. Work on the 100-240V supply system must be performed only by qualified electricians, applying the "five safety rules" (disconnect, secure against re-connection, verify no voltage, ground and short-circuit, cover/barricade adjacent live parts).

Control Elements

• Communication button: On incoming call, press within 30s to answer; press again to end.
• Unlock button: Opens the door at any time.
• Programmable button: Default function releases the 2nd lock on the outdoor station; can be reprogrammed (e.g. light switch, relay unlock).
• Mute button: In standby, mutes the ringtone on this station; hold 3s to mute ringtone on all indoor stations in the apartment; during incoming call, rejects it; during a call, mutes the mic.
• Surveillance button: In standby, monitors the outdoor station and connected external cameras.

Terminal Connections

• a1/b1 bus connector, doorbell connector
• Station switch — sets the address of the default outdoor station
• Address selector switches — X10 (tens digit), X1 (units digit), X100/X200 dip switches (hundreds digit)
• Master/slave function switch — only one indoor station per apartment should be set to Master (ON)

Installation Requirements

• Only install if you have the necessary electrical engineering knowledge — incorrect installation is a life safety and fire risk.
• Apply the five safety rules (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110) and use appropriate PPE and tools.
• Terminate all wiring branches via a connected bus device (indoor station, outdoor station, system device).
• Do not install the system controller directly next to the bell transformer or other power supplies (interference risk).
• Do not run system bus wires together with 100-240V wires, or share cables between door opener wiring and the system bus.
• Use only two wires for the system bus in a multi-core cable; avoid bridges between different cable types.

Initial Setup (First Power-Up)

Triggered on first power-up, or after using "Clear all data" in Engineering Settings:

1. Choose country/region
2. Select system language
3. Read and accept the license agreement
4. Set date and time

System Settings Overview

• Camera List: Sync outdoor stations and connected cameras; set aliases, enable visual doorbell per camera, hide/delete devices from the list.
• Sound: Touch tone, volume, repeated-ringtone toggle (rings for 30s vs. once), 5 built-in ringtones per device type, plus up to 3 custom .wav ringtones from SD card (10MB total).
• Display: Clean-screen lock (30s), brightness slider, auto full-screen toggle for outdoor camera view.
• Date and Time: Manual hour/minute/date adjustment, 12/24-hour format, date format selection, summer time (DST) toggle.
• Automatic Snapshot: When enabled, takes 3 snapshots automatically to history when the doorbell is pressed.
• Door Status Check: Requires a door sensor on the outdoor station — alarms and flashes all button LEDs if the door stays open over 120 seconds.
• Missed Call Notification: Flashes the call button LED to indicate a missed call.
• Unlock Password: Configurable via System Settings → Door Entry System.

Engineering Settings

Password-protected advanced menu covering device settings, customized extra pages, changing the engineering password, clearing all data, factory reset, device address configuration, version info, and firmware update. Change the default engineering password promptly to prevent unauthorized configuration changes.
