    Full text manual (for reference)

User manual for the ABB-Welcome Telephone Gateway (models 83350-500 / 83350-515) — connects a telephone system to an ABB-Welcome door communication system so that connected telephones act as audio indoor stations.

    Critical Safety Warning

Electric voltage! Risk of death and fire due to electric voltage of 230 V.

    • Work on the 230V supply system may only be performed by authorized electricians.
    • Disconnect the mains power supply prior to installation and/or disassembly.
    • Low-voltage and 230V cables must not be installed together in a flush-mounted socket — in case of a short circuit there is danger of a 230V load on the low-voltage line.

    What It Does

The Telephone Gateway is part of the ABB-Welcome door communication system and works exclusively with components from that system. It connects to a telephone system as an analogue subscriber, allowing regular telephones to receive and answer door calls.

    Key Concepts

    • Default phone number: when active, calls for all indoor stations redirect to this number.
    • Primary / secondary phone number: per-indoor-station numbers that calls redirect to; users can toggle between the two.
    • Direct-accept: when active, a user can answer a door call directly by picking up the handset. If deactivated, the user must press [1] [#] after picking up. Must be deactivated if other indoor stations besides the telephone gateway exist in the apartment.
    • Admin PIN: administrator password for accessing programming mode (default 1234).
    • Master PIN: used to activate/deactivate the default phone number for all indoor stations (default 0000).
    • Indoor Station PIN: end-user password protecting the gateway from misuse (default 1111).

    Device Overview (LED Indicators)

    No. Function
1 Operation status of connection to PBX (connected/idle/ringing)
2 Operation status of Welcome bus (ready/receiving data/reset in progress)
3 USB port for software update (factory use only)
4 Terminal resistor switch — OFF for pure audio installs, ON for video/mixed installs on the last device of a branch
5 Long-press 3s to reset to factory defaults (both LEDs flash)

    Installation

    Requirements for the Electrician

Install only if you have the necessary electrical engineering knowledge — incorrect installation can endanger life and cause serious property damage. Follow the "five safety rules" (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110): disconnect the power, secure against reconnection, ensure there is no voltage, connect to earth, cover/barricade adjacent live parts. Use suitable PPE and only suitable tools/measuring devices.

    Mounting

The device must only be installed on mounting rails per DIN EN 50022.

    System Security

Configure your telephone system so the Telephone Gateway cannot be directly called from an external telephone, to prevent unauthorized access by intruders. If external access is required, activate the Indoor Station PIN.

    Commissioning via Telephone

    1. Call the telephone gateway via your PBX.
    2. Enter Admin PIN: [*] [*] [*] Admin PIN [#] (default 1234).
    3. If correct, the gateway enters programming mode.
