    Product manual for the ABB-free@home™ TH-1.1 Thermostat (model ABTH11) — a touchscreen thermostat for the ABB-free@home smart home system, covering setup, configuration, wiring, and resetting.

    Display & Controls Overview

    • Heating & Cooling Indicators — red and blue semi-circles show if the device is heating (red), cooling (blue), or idle (both off).
    • Room Temperature — large number in the middle of the display shows current home temperature.
    • Setpoint Temperature — small number above the large number; use the on-screen arrows to change it. Setpoint and arrows appear as a hand nears the device.
    • Settings — tap to switch between "active view" and "settings view."
    • Heating & Cooling — tap to enable/disable heating or cooling mode.
    • Fan — ON or AUTO mode; default is AUTO. Tap to turn ON.
    • Eco — at night or when away, saves energy by automatically decreasing (heating) or increasing (cooling) the setpoint.
    • ON/OFF — turns the thermostat and all connected appliances off, except House Protection which stays active.
    • Accessory Appliance — activates/deactivates an additional function (e.g. humidifier/dehumidifier).
    • Auxiliary / Emergency Heating — for heat pump systems only. Supplemental source (electric or gas heater) supports the heat pump. Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate "Emergency Heating," which heats the house while preventing the compressor from running — for use when the compressor is defective or iced in extreme winter temperatures. The symbol blinks when Emergency Heating is active.
    • House Protection — indicates heating/cooling turned on automatically to protect the HVAC system from overload or the home from extreme temperatures.

    Always-on functions: a proximity sensor near the bottom of the device wakes up the display and shows touch controls as a hand approaches; the display also self-adjusts brightness to room light level.

    Installation & Adding the Thermostat

    Warning: Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC installer or electrical professional. Improper installation can cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life. After wiring, take a photo of the connected wires for future reference.

    When first powered, the device enters discovery mode for 30 minutes, during which the SysAP can find and connect to it. To add the device:

    1. Put the SysAP into Access Point mode (press its button; indicator turns solid blue). Connect to the SysAP from your wireless network list.
    2. Open a browser and go to 192.168.2.1 (or use the free@home App on a tablet — setup is not possible via smartphone). Log in with configuration rights.
    3. Go to Settings > free@home radio > Search for wireless devices. The Thermostat must be found within 30 minutes of being connected to power — if that window elapses, unplug and replug it to restart the timer.
    4. Add the Thermostat to the floor plan: go to Devices > Temperature control > Thermostat, drag the symbol into the floor plan, and choose the device from the list (identified by serial number or 3-digit code).

    Multiple Thermostats — Master & Slave

    Option 1: Two or more Thermostats controlling the same HVAC equipment — designate one as "Master" (control wires connect here) and the other(s) as "Slave" (only need 24V AC on Rc/C terminals). Master and Slave display the same information.

    Option 2: Two or more separate HVAC systems (e.g. one per floor) — configure each Thermostat independently as "Thermostat."

    If heating and cooling systems use separate 24V AC ("2-transformer system"), remove the jumper on the back of the Thermostat.

    Resetting the Device

    Reset the Thermostat if it was previously assigned to a different System Access Point (SysAP) — this removes the previous connection and lets the device connect to a new SysAP. To reset: touch and hold the power OFF button for at least 15 seconds until the Thermostat reboots.
