    Installation and operation manual for the ABB Welcome M2304 Video Distributor — a component of the ABB Welcome door communication system used to split a video signal to up to 4 indoor stations or risers.

    Overview

    The M2304 video distributor is an integral part of the ABB Welcome door communication system and operates exclusively with components from that system. It can be mounted easily inside a flush-mounted box, or surface-mounted on the wall with a single screw.

    Safety

    Warning — Electric voltage: Risk of death and fire due to electrical voltage of 100-240V.

    • Work on the 100-240V supply system may only be performed by authorized electricians.
    • Disconnect the mains power supply prior to installation and/or disassembly.

    Intended Use

    The M2304 splits the video signal from the door-entry bus into 4 branches for connection to indoor stations (in a single building) or into 4 risers (in a residential complex with multiple stairwells/buildings).

    Control Elements

    • Bus in/out: Connects the M2304 to the system bus.
    • 4 outputs: For indoor stations or risers.
    • Terminal resistor switch (RC ON/OFF): In video or combined audio/video installations, this must be set to "RC on" at the last device on the line.

    Mounting / Installation

    Requirements for the Electrician

    Warning — Electric voltage: Only install this device with the necessary electrical engineering knowledge and experience. Incorrect installation endangers life and can cause serious property damage, e.g. fire.

    Minimum requirements include applying the "five safety rules" (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110): disconnect from power; secure against reconnection; verify no voltage present; connect to earth; cover/barricade adjacent live parts. Use suitable personal protective clothing, tools, and measuring devices, and check the supply network type (TN/IT/TT) to secure proper grounding and protective earthing.

    General Installation Instructions

    • Terminate all wiring branches via a connected bus device (indoor station, outdoor station, system device).
    • Do not install the system controller directly next to the bell transformer or other power supplies (interference risk).
    • Do not run system bus wiring together with 100-240V wires.
    • Do not share cables between door opener wiring and system bus wiring.
    • Avoid bridges between different cable types.
    • Use only two wires for the system bus, even in a 4-core or multi-core cable.
    • When looping, never run incoming and outgoing bus in the same cable.
    • Never run the internal and external bus in the same cable.

    Mounting

    The M2304 can be mounted in a flush-mounted electrical box, or surface-mounted directly on the wall using a single screw.

    Environment / Disposal

    Used electric and electronic devices must not be disposed of with domestic waste — they contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. Dispose of the device at an appropriate collection depot. ABB products comply with EU-Directive 2002/96/EG (WEEE), 2002/95/EG (RoHS), and the EU-REACH ordinance (EC No. 1907/2006).
