  • ABB-Welcome 83327-500 — Camera Interface Manual

    September 08, 2026 3 min read

User manual for the ABB-Welcome 83327-500 Camera Interface, which integrates up to 4 analog CCTV cameras into an ABB-Welcome door entry system.

    Full text manual (for reference)

The ABB-Welcome 83327-500 Camera Interface integrates up to 4 common analog CCTV cameras into an ABB-Welcome door entry (Busch-Jaeger) system. Each connected camera is powered independently.

    Safety Warnings

    • Electric voltage — risk of death and fire: the 100-240V supply may only be wired by authorized/qualified electricians. Always disconnect mains power before installation or disassembly.
    • Low-voltage and 100-240V cables must never be installed together in the same flush-mounted socket — a short circuit could put a full 100-240V load onto the low-voltage bus line.
    • Follow the standard "five safety rules" (DIN VDE 0105 / EN 50110) before working on the system: disconnect from power, secure against reconnection, verify no voltage present, connect to earth, cover/barricade adjacent live parts.

    Control Elements

    • Bus in / Bus out — system bus connections
    • CVBS out — composite video output to a 3rd-party DVR/TV
    • Power switch — toggles power supply to connected cameras (see "With/Without Permanent Power Supply" below)
    • Working mode dial — selects one of 4 operating modes
    • Rotary address switches — set the address of the interface and of the associated device
    • Status LED — Green = ready for operation, Orange = in setting mode, Red = fault
    • Dip switches 1-4 — enable/disable each of the 4 video channels; turn ON when a camera is connected on that channel
    • Prog button — enters programming mode
    • 4 video inputs — support CVBS signal input

    Operating Modes

    Mode Description Capacity
1 Independent Outdoor station. Addr = null; ID from 1-9 (unique, not overlapping other camera interfaces). Up to 9 camera interfaces per system, 4 cameras each.
2 Associated with an Outdoor station. Addr = address of the Outdoor station (1-9); ID unique 1-9. Up to 15 cameras per Outdoor station (including its 2 built-in cameras).
3 Associated with a Guard unit. Addr = address of the Guard unit (1-9); ID unique 1-9. Up to 15 cameras per Guard unit. Guard unit can push image to Indoor station via the "Enable" button.
4 Programming mode — mode, address, and associated device address are all set via software; can be associated with Video Indoor Station. Up to 36 cameras per Video Indoor Station; each camera can serve up to 250 Indoor stations.

In surveillance mode, press the camera-select button to cycle through connected cameras one by one.

    Programming Mode Procedure

    1. Long-press "Prog" for 3 seconds to enter programming mode.
    2. Select the cameras to configure via dip switches V1/V2/V3/V4.
    3. Assign the address of the camera interface using rotary switch R3.
    4. Set the working mode (1-4) using rotary switch R1.
    5. Short-press "Prog" to save the current setting.
    6. Set the address of the associated device using rotary switches R1, R2, R3 (Address = R1×100 + R2×10 + R3).
    7. Short-press "Prog" again to save.
    8. Repeat for additional cameras, or long-press "Prog" for 3 seconds to exit programming mode.

    Video Signal Notes

    • DVR output can feed any of the 4 camera interface inputs, in any mode (1-4).
    • Each Camera Interface supports 1 CVBS output to a 3rd-party DVR/TV. The interface only sends video to the DVR/TV when the Outdoor station is called (mode 2) or the Guard unit "Enable" button is pressed (mode 3) — not during ordinary Indoor Station surveillance.

    Mounting / Installation

    • Installation must only be performed by someone with the necessary electrical engineering knowledge — incorrect installation risks life, property, and fire.
    • Terminate all wiring branches via a connected bus device (indoor station, outdoor station, or system device).
    • Do not install the system controller directly next to the bell transformer or other power supplies (interference risk).
    • Never run system bus wiring together with 100-240V wiring, or share cables between door opener wiring and system bus wiring.
    • Use only two wires for the system bus within a four-core or multi-core cable; never mix internal and external bus wiring in the same cable, and never loop incoming/outgoing bus wiring through the same cable.
    • Supports surface installation, flush mounting, or DIN rail installation.
